Footsteps echoed urgently through the hallway.
I weakly tried to push myself up, only to collapse again.
Lucas Roscente burst through the door, fury burning in his eyes.
He struck me hard across the face twice.
"Isabella lost the baby! Are you happy now, Sophia?"
I gave him a bitter smile.
"Think whatever you want."
Explanations always sounded like excuses to him.
My indifference only fueled his rage.
He dragged me roughly from the bed.
The iron chains clattered harshly against the floor.
Excruciating pain shot through my ankles.
A cry of pain escaped my lips.
"Kneel and beg for Isabella's forgiveness until she wakes!"
He pulled me mercilessly forward.
Within moments, I found myself kneeling beside Isabella's bed.
Just then, Isabella stirred awake.
Her swollen red eyes looked pitifully at Lucas.
"Lucas... our baby..."
He gathered her gently into his arms.
"Don't cry. We'll have another."
Suddenly Isabella pointed at me and screamed.
"This is all your fault!"
Lucas glared at me coldly.
"You'll kneel here all night in repentance."
With that, he turned and left.
The moment the door closed, Isabella smirked triumphantly.
"Everyone says Lucas dotes on you. Doesn't seem that way now."
"That kidnapping was all my doing."
"The love potion made this pregnancy impossible anyway."
"A little scheme was all it took to turn him against you."
"Soon he'll divorce you and be mine completely."
I met her gaze calmly.
"Take the man if you want him."
Closing my eyes, I ignored her further.
Seeing my indifference, Isabella stopped her gloating.
I knelt in her room the entire night.
As dawn's light crept in, the System's chime sounded.
"World departure imminent. Countdown initiated."
My consciousness began fading as my body turned translucent.
Lucas threw open the door, shock written across his face as he scanned the empty room.
"Sophia? Where are you?"
