Skybound Throne

Chapter 281: Skybound Throne II

Aug 16, 2026 281 / 290

After the War was won, the winning side claimed the 3,000 thrones. The Leader of Angels wanted to sit on the Supreme Seat, but to his shock, it vanished. Ultimately, he settled for the Throne of Light. Afterward, everyone who won the War vanished into the higher realm to rest. The Main System abandoned the Battle Royal to follow them.No one cared about the person they had used and discarded. They all thought she had disappeared. But she didn’t. Her soul was still there, although it was broken into many pieces. She was wounded by their betrayal. So, after her soul returned to the Battle Royale, she sealed her broken soul.

Only when the Supreme Seat suddenly appeared on the 100th level of the Battle Royal and initiated a trial to choose its successor did her consciousness stir.

During Skyler’s very first lifetime in the trial, she had simply watched the chosen ones who entered the trial. But for some reason, her gaze kept following the weak, ordinary human who followed Max and the others.

He was so powerless...

Yet his resolve was so strong.

His heart was so pure.

Even when the others treated him poorly, Skyler didn’t have any thoughts of revenge.

Instead, he wanted them to get stronger quickly so all of them could clear the trial.

When Skyler fell into the rift leading to the Spirit Realm for the first time, she had even materialized within the trial to save him.

But she never revealed herself.

She simply continued to watch him.

As he spent years wandering amidst towering trees, completely alone.

Yet, he still didn’t lose sight of his goal.

He wanted to live.

And return to reality.

There were many times when she wanted to reveal herself and comfort him, but she was scared because it was difficult for her to trust others after what had happened.

She felt her heart ache when the trial informed Skyler that everyone else had died, leaving him as the sole survivor.

Watching him lose control, she actually stepped forward to reveal herself. But her power was unstable. Maintaining her form in the trial for so long had already taken a toll on her. Before she could call out to him, her vision became blurred, and she fainted.

At first, her consciousness returned to the place where the fragments of her soul were sealed. But perhaps, deep within her heart, she was unwilling to leave his side. That’s why, the moment Skyler used the Wheel of Time for the first time, she became part of the trial as well, forced to relive the painful life she had tried so desperately to forget.

But when she finally remembered.

She didn’t regret it.

She even chose to enter the trial again.

Because in those countless lifetimes, she also met Skyler. He was just as dazzling as she remembered him to be in her memory.

His presence alone was enough to make her continue living the same life again and again. In the trial, she tried many times to tell him about herself, but because it was an illusion completely under the Supreme Seat’s control, she was simply powerless.

Ultimately, she also ended up trapped.

And forgot her true origin.

Knowing all that, Skyler took a breath, suppressing the anger and heartache welling up inside him. Then, he smiled.

Before Skyler’s 90th lifetime in the trial began, he devised a big plan. Once again, he altered certain events within the trial.

He also planned to form contracts with some powerful Higher Beings who would be useful in achieving the plan he had set.

To accomplish it, he created two mirrors within his subconscious and sealed two fragments of his consciousness inside them, each containing the memories of some of his lifetimes. As for the rest, he personally sealed away those memories.

Then, he wrote a book.

A book in which everything had been planned by him.

He also wrote what the two fragments within his subconscious needed to do.

Everything had already been decided.

And everyone had a role to play.

Only then did he let his consciousness fade along with the shattering world around him.

His 90th lifetime unfolded exactly as he had planned. After growing strong enough, he followed the words of the two powerful figures sealed inside his subconscious and tracked down the sentience of the Supreme Seat, which had gone into hiding after their battle, tearing it apart without hesitation.

The Supreme Seat’s sentience had injured its will during their last battle and was still recuperating, leaving it completely caught off guard by Skyler’s sudden appearance.

It died so abruptly that it couldn’t even comprehend what had happened. Yet the question of how Skyler had discovered it was never answered. If only it had known that Skyler had never stopped tracking it from the moment it fled and had already known where it was hiding before his 90th life began, it would have been horrified.

Because that meant, at that moment, Skyler’s power had surpassed its own.

Even if only slightly.

It was enough.

The Skybound Throne could never have imagined that the very person it had toyed with—the one it had condemned to endure endless suffering because it deemed him unworthy of sitting atop it—would one day surpass the very existence revered as the highest seat of power by every being. And the Supreme Seat itself was the reason.

In the end, only the shell of the Skybound Throne was left. But instead of destroying it, the figures within Skyler’s subconscious suddenly asked him to swallow its power.

Thanks to the Special Spirit Constitution, Skyler consumed it without suffering any side effects. Even so, it took him years to fully assimilate its power. Afterward, the two figures guided him to use the Wheel of Time. Although the Skyler of that timeline vanished without fully knowing everything and entered his 91st life, the plan he had set in motion continued to go smoothly.

He had only one end goal.

To steal the core of the Battle Royal.

Everything else could go to hell.

In his 91st life, he was completely unruly. His mind had been set up that way, so he did whatever he wanted, refusing to follow the words of the two figures trapped within his subconscious. Instead, he became evil and stole everyone’s powers. In that life, he amassed so much power that he believed he could do anything—even rule the entire Battle Royale. Skyler even gathered every fragment of Riruru’s soul and watched as she entered the Sacred Ocean in Heaven.

Her soul became whole before his eyes, and he felt genuine joy as he watched her walk toward it. Yet, at that very moment, everything shattered, and he forgot it all.

Because one last step was left.

One last step to get what he wanted.
