He shook his head firmly. After cooking me an incredible homemade dinner, he put me on the bus back to the city, refusing to let me stay no matter how much I begged.

I was so frustrated. I thought everything was finally lining up for a night with Magnus, but instead, he turned out to be one of those rare, responsible mennot just some guy looking to get laid.

Lying in my dorm that night, I couldn't sleep. My flirtatious roommates were giggling over whose boyfriend was hotter or richer, but I'd seen their guys' pictures. Compared to Magnus? Please. Aside from his intimidating size and rugged country roots, the man was perfect.

And the more I thought about it, the more I realizeda man with real integrity was worth fighting for.

I had to admit it: I was completely, hopelessly into him. This forty-year-old, dark-skinned mountain of a man had me hooked. I wanted himall of him.

They say chasing a man is like piercing through a veil, but I refused to believe I couldn't break through Magnus' defenses.

For the next few days, I faked being sick to skip class. I wasn't illI was on a mission.

My innocent face and sweet smile worked like magic. The village women adored me, making it easy to dig up intel on Magnus.

And the more I learned, the more impressed I was. The man had zero skeletons in his closet.

Excepthe'd disappeared. He wasn't in the village, leaving me no chance to ambush him.

Other farmhands tried hitting on me instead. I recognized that lookthe kind that said they wanted to eat me alive.

If I hadn't met Magnus, maybe I would've entertained them. But after tasting his presence? Nothing else compared.

Luckily, they took rejection well and backed off.

Then, one of the local women dropped the real tea.

"Sweetheart, I can tell you like Magnus. We country folk don't play gameswhat you see is what you get."

She leaned in. "Sure, he's older, but he's kind, hardworking, and his cassava farm? Brings in nearly half a million a year. He's basically the village's most eligible bachelor."

"Plenty of women here want him, but for some reason, he's never taken a single one."

That sealed it. Magnus wasn't just hothe was noble.

I had a theory about why he rejected other women. Maybe his size scared them off. Maybe he didn't want to hurt anyone. The thought sent a shiver through me, warmth pooling low in my stomach.

A man that considerateboth in bed and out of itdeserved everything I had to give.

To make sure I won, I turned to the internet for anonymous advice.

The veterans had solid strategies: since Magnus was the responsible type, all I had to do was surrender myself completely. He'd feel obligated to take care of me.

They even recommended a tasteless, odorless aphrodisiacstrong enough to make a saint lose control.

That evening, I finally found him. He'd been away selling cassava, but I knew he was avoiding me…

Blushing, I pressed against his chest. "I missed you, Magnus. Let me help with your cassava again."

My fingers brushed lower, andoh. That familiar, overwhelming thickness greeted me.

Pure. Bliss.
