Kian’s POV
When Aria stepped out of the inner room, for a moment, I forgot how to breathe. The dim lighting of the servant quarters didn’t do her justice, yet she glowed.
The simple brown dress hugged her perfectly, accentuating her delicate frame. Her dark hair cascaded over her shoulders in soft waves, and her face—Moon Goddess—her face.
It was like Lila had woven some sort of magic into her appearance. She was stunning—breathtaking in a way that stole the breath from my chest.
Before I could process my own thoughts, Lucian let out a low whistle.
“Damn, Aria,” he said, grinning. “You look hot!”
Lucian stepped forward, taking her hand, like he had every right to.
I had half a mind to rip his arm off. Instead, I stood there—watching—burning. They moved toward the door, and I could feel my wolf thrashing inside me.
Lucian was leading her away.
I took a step forward, already knowing I was going wherever they were headed. But then, out of nowhere, Danielle almost collided with me, snapping me out of my fury.
“Kian!” she gasped, grabbing onto my arm. “I’ve been looking all over for you!”
I gritted my teeth, jerking my arm free.
Not now.
I looked over her head to see Aria walking out the front door with Lucian.
“Whatever it is, say it fast,” I snapped.
Danielle frowned, glancing around in disgust. “Why are you in a servant’s room?” She folded her arms, her voice laced with irritation. “What were you even doing here?”
“None of your business.”
She let out an incredulous laugh. “None of my business? I am going to be your Luna! Everything about you is my business!”
I had zero patience for this. Aria and Lucian were getting farther. I needed to end this conversation now.
“What do you want, Danielle?”
Her lips pouted. “I haven’t seen you in days, Kian. And you didn’t even bother to—”
“Not now,” I cut her off. “I’ll come see you later.”
I stepped around her, heading for the door but she blocked my path.
I growled. “Move.”
She didn’t.
Instead, she tilted her chin up. “What is going on, Kian? Are you seriously leaving me here to go after her?”
I exhaled sharply, the tension in my body snapping. I took a deliberate step forward, my presence towering over her, every inch of me radiating authority.
“You are not my Luna,” I said, my voice cutting through the air, cold and unwavering. The words were simple, but the weight behind them was unmistakable.
Danielle’s face drained of color, her eyes wide with shock.
“You will never be my Luna.” The finality in my voice left no room for doubt, no chance for argument.
Her lips parted, but no words came out at first. A stunned silence settled between us, as if the weight of my words had rendered her speechless. Then, she finally spoke—something that made me freeze in my tracks.
“Don’t tell me you’re coming with them like a pathetic third wheel?” she rolled her eyes, her voice laced with something sharp. “Your late father did so much for this pack, As soon to be alpha of this pack, how will you measure up to that? By having a servant as your maid? I wonder what the elders would say.”
With that, she turned and walked past me, her words hanging in the air like a challenge.
