Crying Intern Got Served

Chapter 9

I caught Amber trying to slip out of the break room and cut her off before she could escape.

"Sue, I'm so sorry… I didn't mean to… I had no idea…"

She grabbed my hands with that pitiful look in her eyes, but I pulled back.

"What exactly do we use meeting rooms for, Amber? You really didn't know?"

"What's this, some kind of damsel-in-distress routine?"

"Then again, you wouldn't even need to act, would you?"

"You—you—"

She stumbled over her words, speechless, and then the tears started.

Right on cue, Tommy jumped in to play the hero.

"Sue, what's your problem? Why are you talking to her like that?"

I just smiled.

"I can say whatever I want—it's within my rights."

"Compared to me, you're nothing."

"Maybe some sidekicks should focus on actually improving themselves instead of hiding behind Amber and trying to wreck my deals."

It hit me—Tommy must have put her up to this.

He knows I handle major clients. If he sabotages my deals, he'd probably swoop in and take them. He's desperate to make partner.

As I watched the two of them walk away, I kept thinking…

They wouldn't stop after just one attempt.

What were they planning next?
