**ADAM**
- Amanda, what are you doing here? - I'm watching how the woman rages and don’t understand what happened.
- What the hell do you mean, what am I doing here? What are you two doing together in a closed office, in that position? - Amanda steps closer and looks at Marina as if she's ready to twist her neck with her own hands, and mine too.
- Marina just got brought in. She was attacked. - I don't understand what's happened to Amy. She is clearly dissatisfied with something, and maybe I don't know something.
- Amanda, what happened?
- Are you out of your mind, Adam? What do you mean what happened? How would you react if you walked into my office and saw a scene like this, with some half-lover of mine hugging me? What would you do? - I now understand how it looked from her side. But I didn’t do anything like that. I was just trying to comfort a girl who was brought in completely hysterical.
- Ms. Amanda, it’s not what you think. - Marina tries to say something, and I think she's wasting her time. Amanda is not at all inclined to listen to her. And for some reason, she doesn’t want to hear me right now.
- Who attacked you? - Amanda's voice sounds very harsh, causing the girl to press against me again, and I, like a fool, sit here and can’t pull away from her or break this embrace. Amanda's eyes fill with anger again. Marina falls silent and begins to cry.
- Kirk attacked her. He showed up at my country house literally half an hour ago and attacked her. The guards didn't see him. - Amy looks from me to Marina, and a very strange smile appears on her face. I don’t understand what's happening with this woman.
- Kirk, you say, attacked? Who saw him? - I don’t know what this question is about.
- No one saw him except for Marina. He somehow bypassed even the cameras. But the girl was shaking so much; she ran out to the guards and asked to bring her here. They are searching for traces of Kirk. - Amanda approaches the desk and leans on it.
- Really? So half an hour ago, Kirk attacked you? Did I get that right, Marina? - again, I don’t understand what this question is about. But she’s asking not me, but my secretary. - Marina, did I get that right, or should I repeat the question? - the girl raises her head and looks at Amanda.
- Yes, you understood everything correctly. Kirk came and threatened me. He found out about the documents. - she slides closer to me again, and I’m already thinking about how to get up quickly and extricate myself from this situation.
- How interesting. So half an hour ago, Kirk attacked you. - damn, why does Amanda keep repeating the same thing? As if she didn’t understand the first time, or as if we didn’t understand from the first time. Marina raises her head and looks at Amanda with some new expression on her face.
- Can someone explain to me what is happening here? - I can’t take it anymore, and my voice is tinged with anger. I stand up from Marina and approach Amanda.
- Amanda, do you know something? Or do you want to say something? - the woman exhales and starts pulling a folder out of her bag.
- I have a lot to say, but I’ll start with the main thing. You, Marina, are a liar and a traitor. And here’s the evidence. - she places the folder in front of me, and at that moment I start to investigate it. - And regarding Kirk, if he hasn’t learned to teleport, I very much doubt that he committed this attack. - I turn back to Amanda, wanting to understand the meaning of her words. Amanda smiles and approaches Marina. She looks at her as if she isn’t even worth a penny.
- Half an hour ago, Kirk was in my office and brought me these documents. You, Adam, look them over, and you’ll understand everything for yourself. Our Marina isn’t the poor little sheep you think she is. And saving her is definitely not what we should do. - I open the folder and start reading. And I’m stunned.
- Marina, what is this? - I show the girl the documents, causing her to widen her eyes at me, and there is no fear left in them.
- I don’t know what this is, Mr. Adam. This is some kind of setup. Maybe Ms. Amanda is doing this on purpose. Maybe she conspired with Kirk. - the girl seems to have lost her mind. And if she hadn’t started blaming Amanda, I’d think it was Kirk’s cunning. But now I realize that no. Everything in these documents is the plain truth. I text my current secretary:
- Call my security service. Immediately! - I sit down at the desk, Amanda sits across from me. Marina stays on the sofa.
- So what, darling, now there will be a long and unpleasant conversation. - I watch the predatory expression take over Amanda's face. I even start to like it now. Thoughts of how my beloved can deal with anyone make my pants tighten quite a bit.
The head of the security service arrives quite quickly. I give him the task to check all the documents Amanda gave me. And while he is doing that, we remain in the office. Amanda drinks coffee.
- I suggest locking her in some storage room and not letting her out until we figure out what to do with her. - a cruel and wicked smile appears on Kitten's face. I don’t know how to get used to this yet. Marina looks completely devoid of fear, as if she is not the one at fault here, but someone else.
- You can’t do that. - I didn’t expect such declarations from a secretary who was just shaking with fear. Well, I mean fear, I'm starting to get it now.
- Why not? - Amanda hisses.
- Because whoever sent me to do this won’t allow it. - this makes not only Amanda laugh but me as well. Marina really thinks someone will come to her rescue. How does that girl not understand that she’s just a pawn in a bigger game? But we need to find out who is behind this. At the very least, to eliminate the main threat and not just its consequences.
- Oh, Marina, I highly doubt that. - she looks at me with a full gaze of hatred. - Don’t doubt it, Mr. Adam. I am too valuable for him, especially the information I have. - well, this girl is far too full of herself.
- So we need to lock her up somewhere. I suggest sending her to a place no one knows about.
And while we decide what to do with Marina, my head of security returns.
- Mr. Kelly. These documents are definitely authentic. Everything is gathered here. Even what we didn’t immediately manage to find. Also, we checked the documents on Mr. Kirk, and unfortunately, 90% of it is just a scam. They are forged. - God, what a fool I am, why didn’t I check this right away?
- Thank you. You can be dismissed.
And just as my head of security wants to leave:
- Take her, - I point at Marina, - to the place we take all the people we need to protect.
