Trapped by Him

Chapter 178

Thinking of Gloria, Ellison shook his head. He thought, 'I'm not that shameless. She has been pushed to the brink of survival, and now Damon still wants me to kill her. That poor woman? I'm not that terrible.'

At the other end of the line, Damon kept cursing Gloria.

Hearing Damon's vicious words, Ellison felt irritated for no reason. He raised his hand, pulled at his hair, and said impatiently, "Enough!"

He roared, "Beta Damon, I will say this again. If you want to kill someone, do it yourself. I won't stop you or help you."

Ellison thought, 'Beta Damon got one thing right. If Gloria died, it would be good for me, too.

The truth of three years ago will never come out.'

"Ellison, you must help me. Or I'll tell Alpha Patrick what you did three years ago." Damon was flustered.

"Beta Damon, so, you knew Gloria was innocent." Ellison chuckled.

Damon shut his mouth at once after hearing Ellison's words.

From the moment he threatened Alison to the moment he uttered those words, he implicitly admitted that he knew that Gloria was innocent.

Damon gripped his phone tightly and said forcefully, "I don't know what you're talking about. All I know is that Gabrielle went deep into Shadow Forest because of that bitch. And Alison, you were behind Alpha Patrick's back, trying to take away the resources that were important to him at that time. If he found out about it, I'm afraid you'd end up miserably."

There was a sneer on Ellison's lips as he thought, 'I can't believe Beta Damon is still threatening me to help him kill that woman.

Sorry. I can't bear to bully that pitiful woman and make her suffer more.'

"Fine. Go ahead," Ellison sneered. "Don't blame me for not reminding you. You are just the Beta of the Black Thorn Pack. How did you come across something that Patrick didn't know? And you know better than anyone how Gabrielle died. I wouldn't call again if I were you." Ellison's words were harsh. He didn't take Damon's threat seriously at all. "If you hate Gloria, do it yourself. Stop bothering me!"

He hung up the phone without showing Damon any respect.

Damon clutched his phone in his hand with his body trembling slightly.

He thought, 'What did Ellison know? What on earth did he mean?

Gabrielle is dead. It's all that bitch's fault! That bitch must die!'

"Alpha Patrick, I failed you," Hank said guiltily in the dark study room.

Patrick asked expressionlessly, "Still nothing?"

Hank lowered his head even more. He blamed himself deep down. He said to Patrick, "Alpha Patrick, I failed to complete the task you gave me. It's all because I'm not capable enough. Leonard would have found out long ago."

Hank thought, 'Alpha Patrick told me to do some digging about what happened three years ago secretly. Indeed, this matter is a bit tricky. However, it has been several days already, and I still have not found anything.

Yet regarding such a matter, Leonard and I hold different positions. Leonard believes that Miss Carter is guilty.

On the contrary, I didn't quite believe that Miss Carter was that kind of person in the first place, so I was pleased to learn that Alpha Patrick was interested in finding out what had happened back then.

But no matter how much I investigated, all I found was evidence against Miss Carter.'

The report on Gloria was on Patrick's desk right now.

Hank hesitated to give it to Patrick while he was working on it.

Patrick picked up the report from the desk. In the quiet study, there was only the sound of him flipping through the papers.

"Is this everything you found out?" Patrick put down the file. One side of his handsome face was in shadow, and the other seemed to glow in the light.

Hank nodded hard. "Yes."

Yet he looked up and said anxiously, "But, Alpha Patrick, I still don't believe Miss Carter will do something like that."

Hank thought, 'I want to believe Miss Carter, but what is recorded in the report says otherwise.'

Patrick tapped the desk with his slender fingers. He squinted silently at the report spreading out on the desk for a long time, and he was contemplating.

"Alpha Patrick, I'm so useless. That's all I can find out," Hank said apologetically.

The evidence in the report was so seamless that whoever saw them would convict Gloria at once.

"Leonard might be able to figure it out," Hank said guiltily, blaming himself for not being as competent as Leonard.

Before he could finish his words, Patrick, sitting behind the desk, interrupted him softly, "Even Leonard wouldn't be able to find out."

Patrick's eyes flashed with a cold light. He said, "I asked you to go back three years to find something that would speak up for her, yet in the end, all I received was evidence that was against her, which confirmed her guilty."

"Alpha Patrick, I don't think Miss Carter would do such a thing," Hank quickly spoke up for Gloria.

"I agree." Patrick suddenly stood up from the chair and went to the window, looking out and turning his back on Hank. "I was so close to believing the evidence. They interlock perfectly, and I can hardly find any flaws. But the more flawless it is, the more suspicious it seems to be."

"Alpha Patrick." Hank suddenly raised his head. His eyes widened in fear.

By the time Patrick had finished his sentence, Hank realized something.

"No! It can't be." Hank trembled in fear.

Patrick sneered while standing by the window. He thought, 'Even Hank has already figured something out. Does that man think he can still fool me?'

Patrick's lips curved into a smile, but his eyes were cold. His tone was extremely cold as he said, "Grandpa, it really is you."

"No... Alpha Alex didn't have to do this," Hank said in disbelief.

"I was careless," Patrick looked out the window and said calmly,

Hank trembled, and his body stiffened. He thought, 'Alpha Patrick is determined that Alpha Alex is the one responsible.'

"Alpha Patrick, please don't think like that. I'm sure there is something we don't know about. Please give me another month, and I promise to find out the truth!" Hank knelt on one knee, put his hand on his chest, and swore.

He thought, 'My family is in debt to the Hammond family. If this report of mine can't help Miss Carter and brings conflict between Alpha Patrick and Alpha Alex, then I will be the sinner of the whole Black Thorn Pack.'
