The party was full of dignitaries, elites, high class people in the society, the board members and investors of both companies, friends, well wishers and media.
I sat down with my parents and the Anderson, Hayden climbed the podium and took the microphone from the master of the occasion, a smile which i know wasn't genuine was plastered on his face.
"Ladies and gentlemen welcome to this wonderful event, i am a happy and fulfilled man today because i am going to officially asked the most beautiful, amazing and adorable woman in the world to be my wife today." He said
Wow! This guy is so good at pretending, he definitely need an Oscar award for the best actor in the world.
"Ladies and gentlemen join me and welcome the woman that i will love to spend my life with Tessa Cooper to the stage."
I sat down on my seat pretending to be shy while burying my face in my hands.
"Babe, come on." He beckon on
"Go on." Joan said sending me a teasing smile
I stood up from my seat, pretending to be shy while taking slow steps to the stage. everyone started clapping their hands the moment i got to the stage.
Everyone here is so gullible and stupid, how can they easily buy this act.
"You are such a good actor." I whispered to Hayden the moment i got close to him on the stage
"Isn't she beautiful?" He praised ignoring my comment, everyone nodded their heads while laughing
"Tessa ever since we were little my only dream have been to raise a family and grow old with you, you brought sunshine, joy and happiness into my life, you are the air i breath, my backbone and my life.
Baby i will love to always wake up and sleep beside you. Will you do me the honour of becoming my wife and the mother of my kids." He asked going down on one knee with a beautiful diamond ring in one hand.
I took some moment faking surprised emotions and looking at him before nodding my head.
"Yes! Yes! Yes love!." I shouted with a fake crack voice and tears
He slid the ring into my finger, stood up and hugged me
"She said yes." He shouted to the hearing of everyone the moment he disengaged from the hug
"I love you babe." He yelled
"I love you too babe." I yelled and everyone started clapping
We were showered with congratulating message and many people wished us all the happiness in the world.
I don't need happiness but a solution to put an end to this charade.
"I never knew my son was so sweet." Hayden father teased and he smiled
"I will do anything for the company." He whispered to only our hearing
"Glad you made the right decision son." His father said before walking away to mingle with the guest
"You both look good together." His mom complimented the both of us
"Stop it mom, we don't look good together." He whispered to the hearing of both i and his mother
"Thanks honey, thanks for doing this." My dad whispered pulling me into his warm hands
"My baby is getting married." My mom squealed joining the hug
"The marriage is fake mom." I whispered to her hearing and that of my dad
"Honey let's go and mingle with the guest." My dad said pulling my mom along with him leaving i and Hayden
"Wow! Girlfriend you are officially engaged." Joan joke and i sent her a playful glare
I excused myself from the party and went to the rooftop to get some air, i looked at the beautiful sky reminscing on the event that have happening in my life.
With the way Hayden is pretending to be in love with me in front of the crowd, I am afraid he will just wake up one day and end my life and nobody will suspect him.
I was about going back to going the party when i tripped, I closed my eyes and expected to land on the floor when a strong hand caught me before i could touch the ground.
I looked up and came face to face with my supposed fiancee Hayden, he had caught me and our lips were few inches apart from each other.
"Thanks." I appreciated him the moment he let go of me which he ignored
"Such a rude devil." I blurted out and he shot me a hard glare before walking away
How dare he ignore me? He should be grateful that i appreciated him for catching me instead he is ignoring me.
Nobody has the right to ignore me, maybe if i provoke him he is going to talk to me.
I smirked looking for the perfect word to say to get on his nerves.
Let's see if he will ignore me when i say this words to him
"You are such a good actor Hayden, you deserve a medal for fooling everyone in that hall." I provoke making him halt in his track

"Bro your acting was top notch, you deserve an award." Luca praised the moment Tessa vanished to God knows where
"You and Tessa made everyone believe that you are so in love with each other." Gerald added
"It took a lot of practice to put on that suffocating act." I voiced out picking a glass of Scotch from the waiter that was passing by
"And it payed off man, you were freaking real bro, thumps up!" Lucas said
"Hi Hayden congratulations." Mr Queen one of the board members of the company said shaking my hand
"Thanks Mr Queen." I appreciated
"And where is the lucky bride to be?" He asked using his eyes to search for Tessa
"She went to the restroom." I lied and he nodded his head before leaving to meet with my dad
"Man go get your woman before people starts asking questions." Lucas advised and I went in search of her
After searching around for her without any result, i decided to check the rooftop which was the only place i haven't checked.
The moment i got to the rooftop, i saw Tessa, looking at the sky she was deep in thoughts. Watching her looking at the sky reminds me of the innocent, sweet and caring friend i grew up with.
The friend who was always there for me.
The friend who will do anything for me.
The friend who will never do anything to hurt me.
Watching her brought back beautiful and painful memories, it opened unhealed wounds.
I decided not to disturb her and return to the party to avoid remembering the past.
I was about turning my back when i caught sight of her slipping. i immediately rushed to her side and grabbed her before she could touched the ground. I quickly made her stand on her feet properly the moment i noticed that our lips were few inches from touching each other.
"Thanks." She appreciated the moment i let go of her which i ignored and began walking away

"Wow!" That was harsh." She chuckled darkly
"Hayden, you are probably wondering why i accepted to get married to you? I am only doing this because i love my parents and i will do whatsoever it takes to make them happy even if it is to be stuck with you for life." She voiced out getting on my nerves
"I know and i also hate this charade, i am only doing this for my family and the business, i haven't forgotten what you did to me few years ago."
"I am not comfortable with the idea that i will be stuck with you for the rest of my life, you broke me, you ruined me and i despise you Tessa Lina Cooper for that. I hate you with every fibre in me." I yelled
"Do you think i love this arranged marriage? Do you think i want to be married to you knowing how much you hate me?"
"Do you think i love you and want to be stuck with you for the rest of my life? I don't want to be in this charade most importantly i don't want to close to you." She said in a shaken voice before running off
"That was bad of you." Lucas reprimanded me walking towards me with Gerald.
"Well i don't care, she started it." I replied
"What you said to her was harsh and painful. It was immature of you to bring out your past." Gerald said walking away in anger
"He is right man." Lucas supported him patting my shoulder
I walked back to the party together with Lucas, i scanned the party in search of my supposed fiance Tessa but there was no trace of her and her friend Tessa.
"Auntie, where is Tessa?" I asked her mother who was busy chatting with my parents
"She had to go home with Joan because she wasn't feeling well." Her mom replied
"I hope you had nothing to do with why Tessa left? Because she left the party in tears immediately the both of you disappeared to God knows where."
"Pray that she doesn't change her mind." My father warned whispering to only my hearing
"I hope she changes her mind dear father." I whispered back storming out of the party
I just hope she changes her mind because i can't be stuck with a girl who broke me and almost drove me to the point of insanity.
No matter how many tears she shed it will never make up for the hurt she caused me and the tears i shared because of that incident seven years ago.
