Abbie's POV
"Careful. Careful." I warned Marissa to be careful as I helped her settle into bed. My family had come by to check on her as well, and let me tell you, they were equally upset that she left the infirmary ahead of time.
My little sister, Jesse, looked at us worriedly, holding her bear tightly as if for dear life. Her eyebrows were knitted and she pouted, looking at Marissa worriedly. Marissa knew Jesse was a kind soul, she looks at her, giving her smile and winking at Jesse to let hr know that she was ok; but I knew Jesse better. She may smile at you, but she will not stop worrying until she was a hundred percent certain that you were ok.
"Mommy, is Marissa going to be ok?" SHe asks mom, making mom smile at her, kissing the top of her head and sighs. "Yes, baby. We'll make sure she gets plenty of rest when we are back home, ok" Mom
"How do you feel, honey? Would you like me to bring you something to drink? Are you hungry?" my mom asked her, making Marissa smile. "No, ma'am. I'm fine. I'll be ok, guys. You guys can go about your day, I'll be fine. I think I just need to rest a little." she says, making my mom give her a raised eyebrow look.
Marissa still had her torso bandaged, and she was healing relatively fast, but, her body was still tender and hurting, desite the hard-ass act she was trying to pull on us. And by the looks of it, Mom was not buying it either.
I sighed, studying her, making sure she was ok.
"What about your parents, sweetie? Have you been able to contact them? Did they come to see you already, or will they be stopping by later today?I can ask Bertram to go get them if you'd like?" my mom asks, making me look at Marissa. "Something's up with her. I can feel it." Merida says, making me roll her eyes. "Stop it, Merida. Let her talk. Maybe they have been busy or something. I mean, I've been so busy that I haven't gone by to say hi to them either. I should stop by and say hi to them later." I added, making Merida scuff.
If I think about it, I haven't seen her parents at all since i got here. I wonder if they know she's here?
"Uhm... No. I haven't told them I'm here. But it's ok,though. You guys don't have to worry about it, I'm sure they will come by later on, maybe they'll come by before I go back to the Raven's Creek Pack." Marissa says, making Mom look at her rather suspiciously. "She's hiding something!" Merida added, making me tilt my head thoughtfully. Where were her parents anyway? Why haven't they stopped by to see her? They haven't seen her in nearly a year, they should have run over here the moment they found out we were here.
Besides, I know for a fact that last time she talked to them, they were begging her to see me. I thought about it too, and well, to be honest, I do miss her parents. I've been wanting to see them too.
"Anyway, if you guys don't mind, I have to go somewhere real quick.... I'll see you guys later," I said, pointing towards the door and standing up quickly, walking toward the door. They smiled at me, making me smile back. "Ok, honey. We'll see you later. Don't worry about Marissa, we'll be here with her." Dad says, giving me one of his big bear hugs and kissing my forehead.
I couldn't help notice that Marissa did act a bit suspicious, though. Merida was right. She's hiding something. But for now, I shook it off, "I told you she's hiding something, I can feel it." Merida says, making me sigh. "I know. Let me talk to Lily, maybe she knows something." I said, making her scuff again.
I mind link Lily, making my way out of the infirmary and into the pack house. "Hey, Lil... I have a quick question for you if you don't mind." I say, sighing and hoping I'm just imagining things. "Ask away, Abbie. I'm all ears."
"Do you know where Marissa's parents are? I didn't see them at the party last night. I'm wondering if they know she's here." I ask her, making her give a low grunt from the back of her throat.
"They left the pack almost a year ago, Abbie. I haven't heard anything about them since they left. If anything, Hunter will know. You can ask him about it." she says, making me stop dead.
What? Did they leave their pack? But... why?
"But if you ask me, it was a bit suspicious the way they left."
"What? Why do you say that?"
"Well, they just left, without a word to anyone, not even their alpha. I mean, it was just a sudden thing, you know? One day, they see them going about their normal day, eating together at a small restaurant and going for their normal afternoon walk. The next day, poof- gone." She says, making me feel my heart drop. I felt my heart skip a beat, making me feel scared for them.
Then it dawned on me. Tara.
If they knew Tara was tormenting Marissa, she must have been scared for her parents when she was gone. "What if Tara wanted to keep tormenting Marissa by getting to her parents?" I asked, making Merida and Lily sigh.
"Maybe she made her parents leave for their safety. At least, I hope so. Tara is a sadistic snob, Abbie. You know she's capable of doing harm to others to get her way. If they knew about what she was doing to Marissa, maybe they tried to confront her," Merida says, making me growl in anger.
"And Marissa found out, that's why she made them leave. If they even thought of confronting Tara, it means Tara could have sent rogues after them and kill them. If Marissa found out in time, maybe she made them not go throuh with their plan and made them leave for their safety." Lily added, making Merida agree.
The more we talked about this, and the closer I got to Lily's room, the angrier I became. Tara better not have harmed them or so help me, I will rip her apart myself.
And it was as if the devil knew I was thinking of her. I turned the corner, to begin going up the stairs, bumping into Tara, and making her stumble back.
"Well, well... look who it is? The prodigal child," she says sarcastically, making me give a low growl.
"What the hell are you still doing here, Tara? Did you forget how to get back to your hell-hole?" I ask, sarcastically, making her growl, exposing her canines.
She chuckles, making me clench my jaw as I try to control myself from launching at her throat.
"I don't know if you've noticed or not, little sister, but I can come and go as I please when I want, whenever I want." she says, snobbingly, making me growl at her.
"You sure about th-"
"Tara, what are you still doing here? The party was yesterday, dear. I thought your pack had left last night. Did you not have a ride to go back home, darling? Spencer!" Luna Amanda Black says, looking at me and winking with a smile.
Tara looks at her in shock, and then turns with a scold. I can help but snicker as Luna Black comes and loops her hand on my arm.
"There you are, Abbie. I've been looking for you. I wanted to go over somethings with you. SInce you and my son have mated and marked each other, you and I have to go over the requirements before we have the luna ceremony. We have so much to do, honey. I mean, you'll have to take classes, and sign papers, go over the upcoming events and so muh more." Luna Black says as she pulls me away from Tara who looks angry.
"Luna Mandy, were you calling me, ma'am?" Spencer comes running, stopping in front of us.
"Oh, yes, dear. Miss Montero seems to have lost her ride back home. Will you be a dear and make sure she finds a way? Make sure she is escorted out of our pack, will you? And if she needs a ride home, make sure to have someone take her. Get her safely inside her pack." She says, smiling at Spencer.
Spencer was a nice boy. He was quiet, serious, but very much capable of kicking someone unconcious if he needed.
"Yes, ma'am. I'll make sure to bring Miss Montero back to her pack safely." He responds, smiling and bowing at Luna Maddie, making her smile back as she pats his shoulder. But I couldn't help notice he did not like thenidea of escorting her out.
Still- it was nice to see Luna Maddie tell her to get out in such a nice way.
"I guess you can't come and go as you please, right Tara?" I say through our mind-link, making her growl as I look back and smile, winking at her.
"Boy, did it feel good to see her get put in her place, Hah! Take that bitch!" Merida says in my head, and I can feel her doing a happy dance, making me chuckle.
Did it feel good? Yes... yes, it did. Tara has always boasted about acting so snobby and getting her way has been easy, but no more. It's time she starts getting put in her place, and what luck right? Luna Mandy is awesome!
