"You have got to be kidding me, Amy!" Whenever I think that she can't shock me anymore she goes ahead and does just that. I've had a niggling in my brain all night telling me that she wasn't done yet and I think that's one of the reasons that I couldn't sleep and now here she is proving me right once more.
"Why the fuck do you need more money, Amy? Surely one million is more than enough for your drugs an-"
"Tom, wait!" He looks at me shocked and confused at why I'm stopping his rant. "Not in front of her." I nod at Katie who is cuddled up in my arms and I know he now gets it by the look of understanding that he gives me. "Sugar, I'm sorry baby girl!" He walks over to me and kisses her on her head. I know she's only a baby and doesn't actually understand what's being said or what's going on but still, I don't want her witnessing any of this.
"I'll take her." Callum comes to a stop at the side of me, they must be able to hear us inside the barn. "Hey bubble bum, wanna come cuddle with Uncle Cal for a while?" He leans down to talk to her before putting out his arms to her. She gives him a beaming smile once she recognizes him and holds out her arms all excited causing all three of us to smile. He quickly scoops her out of my arms and heads back to the barn, I wait until they are inside and the door is closed before I turn to face Tom and give him a nod.
"What the fuck do you want more money for bitch? One million will get you more than enough drugs and drinks. What the fuck are you playing at?" I let Tom finish his rant and just stand back and watch her, watch her reactions and the worst thing for me is how she doesn't even flinch when he mentions drugs and drink. So much for her denying ever using anything.
"What's it got to do with you gay boy? This is between my husband and me, not you so keep your bent nose out of this!" Tom bursts out laughing at her insults making me quietly chuckle too. "Man, she's shit at insults. but then again I imagine all that drug use has fried her brain, I'm surprised she can function never mind get a good insult out." I laugh harder than before causing Amy to give me a shitty glare.
"Amy for one I am not your husband, that shit was done with months ago and I'm sick of you still saying that and two this has everything to do with Tom." She suddenly stomps her foot like a toddler having a tantrum before stepping closer to me "But I don't want us to be apart Chris, you know this!" Tom burst out laughing once more bending over and holding his stomach while genuine tears fill his eyes. "She's generally fucking cooked, Chris... fucking cooked!"
"Fuck of gay lord." She spits. Fuck she really is a waste of space, a pathetic stupid crazy ass bitch and Jesus am I glad that I'm out of that marriage. "Amy getting out of our marriage is the best thing I've ever done."
"He's right and you don't deserve any of the money you're already getting but then to ask for more, girl you are either crazy or stupid...or maybe both." Tom has finally got himself under control and is able to speak without laughing. She once again gives him a shitty look but before they can get into another round of arguing I stop them. As much as I'm enjoying Tom ripping her a new ass I just want her gone and to get Katie home and bathed and fed.
"Amy you are having one million dollars, I think thats more than enough. Do you know how hard it was to come up with that kind of money in two days? There's no more money Amy!" Tom already told me not to tell her that it came from him, I'm not sure why but I'll respect it. Maybe he wants me to take the credit for it, I don't know but I really don't care where the money came from just that I get my kids.
"Ok fine." Her words dont sit right with me, they are too calm and I know she's about to deliver another blow. "I'll sign Katie and Brody over to you but I'm keeping Sophie."
"Are you fuck!" She's really getting on my last nerve right now. "You can't give me the full amount of money so you don't get the full amount of brats!"
"Why would you want to keep Sophie? You have already made it clear that you don't want any of the children?" Tom's words hit me hard in the chest. What the fuck is she up to now? She suddenly gets an evil smirk on her face and it makes my blood run cold. "I've been offered more for her than Katie so it makes sense to keep her instead." I have never wanted to hurt a woman before In fact, the idea of laying a hand on any woman usually makes me feel sick but right now I'd be lying if I said that I didn't want to beat the living fuck out of her right now. If that makes me a bad person then so be it.
Tom moving brings my attention to him and I notice that's he frantically typing on his phone. Why is he on his phone when we're dealing with the psychopath that is my ex-wife? Noise from behind me brings my attention to the barn and Molly walking towards us. I'm going to guess that Tom text her to come out but I'm confused as to why?
"Oh great, your latest piece on the side is here. What can I do for you husband stealer?" Molly doesn't look fazed by her remark but seems to spend more time sharing a strange look with Tom than anything else. What's going on? "You need new material bitch!" Molly spits at her but she doesn't look like she's actually in the conversation but more in her own head, she looks like she's torn about something and I'm nothing but fucking confused.
"The bitch wants more money?" Molly doesn't seem surprised which I get because I already guessed that they could hear us in the barn. "Not surprising, she thinks she's entitled to everything when she doesn't deserve a thing." Molly is keeping her voice calm but I can see her clenching her firsts at her side. "What the fuck does it have to do with this bitch?" Amy takes a step toward Molly and before I realize what I'm doing I take a step towards Molly and pull her in closer to me. "Aww so protective." Amy fakes a gag but I don't even give her the time for a response, my attention is on Tom and Molly who keep sharing a strange look.
"It has everything to do with her." Tom answers which gets me even more intrigued. "How much does she want now?" Molly rolls her eyes as she asks me. "Another one hundred grand." She lets out a loud laugh as she shakes her head. "She's fucking funny." Again she looks at Tom then at me then back to Tom who gives her a small nod. What the fuck is going on with these two?
"You sign all three children over to their father and you get another 50,000 and that's it. Take it or leave it!" What the fuck is going on. Why is Molly discussing this with her? A niggle starts up in my head but I push it aside and concentrate on what's going on in front of me. "I said one hundred thousand, not fifty grand!" Amy shouts looking seriously pissed.
"Yes well, money isn't that easy to come by you know, it doesn't grow on fucking trees." She takes a deep breath before looking at me with that strange look once more before turning back to face Amy. "I have fifty thousand in cash that can be yours on top of the one million that is already going to be yours. Take it or leave it but that's all there is." Wait... is Molly going to give her fifty grand? But how is that possible? She doesn't have that kind of money... does she?
Amy grunts looking pissed but in just a few seconds she nods her head agreeing. "Fine but there better not be any games or deals off!" Molly nods her head "Unlike you I'm a woman of my word and the money will be there ready and waiting for you." Just a few minutes later Amy takes off in her shitty car and I quickly head into the barn to check on Katie.
"How's she doing?" My dad looks up from where he was watching her sleeping in his lap and gives me a smile. "She seems ok son, she could do with a bath but we stripped her off and checked her over and she doesn't seem hurt in any way." I let out a breath relieved at what he's saying. Dirty I can work with. "Ok, let's head home so I can get her bathed, changed and fed." I want her out of those clothes ASAP. I bought her some stuff when I went shopping yesterday morning and I want her in them and not anything that's to do with her poor excuse of a mother.
I scoop her up out of my Dad's arms and feel my heart beat hard when she curls herself into me in her sleep. How could her mother not want her, not want any of her kids? How could she have turned so cold that she's willing to sell them and not just sell them to me but to anyone who's willing to take them for the right price?
She has turned into one sick human being and as much as I hate the idea of the kids growing up without a Mom deep down I pray that once she's signed them over and had the money she disappears and they never see her again. It will be hard for them to grow up without a mom but the pain that she will cause them throughout their lives will be so much worse.
Within ten minutes everyone is in the trucks and we are heading for Penny's house. Callum is in the passenger seat while I've got Tom and Molly in the back of my truck with Katie. I keep going between watching the road and sneaking peaks at Molly taking in how beautiful she is. I also notice how she and Tom are whispering to each other and it stirs something inside of me. There's something going on with those two and I'll be asking them about it as soon as I've got Katie settled.
Those old feelings I had of not trusting Molly are trying to resurface and I hate it. I worked so hard to make them go away but now the way she and Tom are acting is forcing them back up and I just hope that when I ask them about what's going on they tell me the truth and help settle these feelings back down or I don't know what I'm going to do but one thing I do know is that I can't live with not trusting her. If we become more than friends I need her to always be honest with me like I will be with her, It's the only way it can work and I just pray that it can and will work.
