Trapped by Him

Chapter 158

Patrick walked towards the bed and waved at her. He ordered, "Sit over here."

Gloria didn't know what was going on, but under his deep gaze, she braced herself and sat closer to him.

Patrick took a towel from a shelf and placed it on her head. He rubbed it gently.

Then, he dried her hair with a hairdryer.

After her hair was dry, he said, "From now on, don't sleep with wet hair."

Patrick's action did not make Gloria feel better.

On the contrary, she was about to be driven crazy by such abnormal behavior.

She did not know what he was going to do, yet she could not stand his behavior like this. She would prefer Patrick treat her the same way as before. She didn't want his sudden gentleness.

Finally, she closed her eyes. When she opened them again, she asked, "Why?"

Patrick put down the hairdryer and tucked her hair behind her ears. Instead of answering her, he said, "Sleep tight."

He turned around. Gloria wanted to reach out and grab the corner of his clothes, but in the end, she withdrew her hand.

"By the way, you have to think about the responsibility you have to bear for Moonlight Group." Patrick suddenly turned to Gloria as he walked to the door.

That night, Gloria was sleepless again.

The next morning, she got up early, washed up, fixed her hair meticulously, and put on a business outfit.

She paused for a moment when she touched the hair on her forehead. She still did not have the courage to lift her bangs to reveal the hideous scar.

She checked herself in the mirror. "Gloria, do you really have the courage to stand in front of other people again?"

However, there was no turning back.

She could not fail her grandfather or Mica.

All Gloria could do was face the situation.

She was aware of the current situation of Moonlight Group. If she couldn't bring it back on track before she left, she would not be relieved.

As she walked out of the bathroom and pushed the door, sunlight reached her face. She closed her eyes. When she opened her eyes, she found that Patrick was already up.

Patrick looked her up and down. He picked up his suit jacket and said, "Let's go."

Gloria followed Patrick silently. The car was waiting for them downstairs. She and Patrick sat in the back seats.

The driver handed over two boxes of breakfast. Patrick passed one to Gloria and said, "Here you are."

Gloria did not reach out to take it.

"You've got to eat first, then, you'll have the strength to face the problem," Patrick said. "What you need to face is far more difficult than you think."

Gloria knew what Patrick was talking about. Three years was enough to shuffle Moonlight Group. Her trusted subordinates must have been sidelined, and the important positions had been given to other people.

In other words, although she got Moonlight Group back, she didn't get the power back.

She did not know what to do yet.

She silently picked up the breakfast from Patrick's hand and ate it. She was not very hungry, but at that moment, it seemed that all she could do was to fill up her stomach.

The car stopped in front of a building. She saw the sign of Moonlight Group. It reminded her of the day when it was first established.

"Leonard, keep her safe," Patrick said. Leonard then got out of the car. Patrick sat back in the driver's seat.

Patrick looked at Gloria and said, "Gloria, Moonlight Group is not mine. Don't think that I will help you all the time."

Gloria's breathing paused, and she clenched her fists. She almost forgot that Patrick had never been her backup.

"Leonard, stay with her and watch out for her," Patrick said.

"Yes, Alpha Patrick," Leonard immediately replied.

Before Patrick drove off, he took one last look at Gloria.

Gloria stood in front of the door. She mustered her courage and stepped through the door.

"Do you have an appointment?" The receptionist was a woman about twenty-five years old. When Gloria walked over, the receptionist was using a nail file on her nails.

Gloria was furious. She thought she wouldn't be surprised if Moonlight Group was in a mess, yet she was.

It was working hours. As a receptionist, she was doing this in front of all the visitors. And she was rude when she asked Gloria if she had an appointment.

Gloria's expression changed a few times. She forced herself to be vigorous and said, "First, you should do such things during work hours. Second, as a receptionist, you don't respect visitors. Third, the way you dress is inconsistent with the culture of Moonlight Group. Now, you are fired."

The receptionist glanced at Gloria from head to toe and ridiculed, "Who are you? Do you think you are the person in charge of Moonlight Group? How dare you make comments here?"

Gloria had been away for three years. Though Gloria's heart was trembling with fear, the hand behind her back was firmly clenched. She kept saying to herself in her heart, 'Don't be afraid. You can handle this. You must deal with it. You must clean up this mess as soon as possible. You have no other choice.'

She fought back the fear of facing strangers. Gloria said to the receptionist with an expressionless face, "Unfortunately, as you mentioned, I am the person in charge of Moonlight Group."

As she spoke, she took out the purchase contract that had been signed yesterday.

Gloria said coldly, "Have you seen it clearly? Now, do I have the qualifications to ask you to pack up your things and leave?"

The receptionist turned pale. She opened her mouth and was about to beg for mercy. Gloria reached out and interrupted her, "Don't beg me. You are the first one I fired today, but you will definitely not be the last one."

However, no one knew that Gloria was struggling with fear inside right now.

"Leonard," Gloria shouted. "Send this lady out."

The receptionist was unwilling to go, yet when she saw Leonard, the tall and sturdy man, she swallowed her anger and muttered, "There's nothing good about this place anyway. It's just a shell company. I don't want to work here anymore."
