After reading the news, Luana stood there in a daze, unable to collect her thoughts for a long time.
What kind of powerful force could bring down the Elan family, a commercial giant in Los Angeles, in just one night?
She suddenly remembered the words of the masked man from last night, who said Travis would not come back.
How could he know in advance that Travis would not return? Could it all have been orchestrated by him?
If he was indeed behind it, then her previous assumption that the masked man was a friend of Travis was completely unfounded.
After all, Travis's friends could not possibly have such extraordinary means to utterly dismantle the Elan family overnight.
If he was not a friend of Travis, then who on earth was this mysterious "Mr. Night"?
Luana felt her head was about to explode with various speculations, yet she could not make sense of them.
However, at least Travis was over now, and she no longer had to live in fear.
Having just escaped Travis's clutches, she found herself targeted by another pervert.
After pondering for a moment, Luana decided to go to the hotel manager to retrieve the surveillance footage.
However, the result was a great disappointment. There was only footage of Travis entering and leaving her room, and all the surveillance of that man had been deleted.
This made Luana feel that the man was unfathomable.
Without surveillance footage, she had no idea who her assailant was, and she didn't even have evidence to accuse him.
But could she just let him off the hook?
Luana thought about it and decided to gather her courage and go to the police station to report the incident.
At the police station, she detailed the sequence of events and provided the police with the man's phone number and all the messages he had sent her.
However, the police informed her that it was difficult to locate the person with just this information.
Moreover, based on the content of the messages, it appeared that she had initiated contact with him, and even if there was suspicion of impersonation, it could not serve as direct and effective evidence.
The police suggested she go to the hospital and extract semen. Perhaps she could preserve some evidence in this way.
Hearing this, Luana felt a deep sense of disappointment, but she still mustered up the courage to go to the hospital.
After doing all that, she dragged her exhausted body back home.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw Clarissa anxiously greeting her.
"Luana, where have you been? I've called you so many times, but no one answered," Clarissa said with a worried face.
Luana then picked up her phone and saw several missed calls from Clarissa.
She had been so preoccupied with reading the news and checking the surveillance at the hotel that she hadn't noticed any incoming calls.
"I went out for a walk. Maybe it was too noisy in the mall, so I didn't hear the phone ringing," she said, making up an excuse to avoid worrying Clarissa.
She didn't want Clarissa to worry.
Clarissa, unaware that Luana hadn't been home the night before, let out a sigh of relief upon hearing her explanation.
"Clarissa, weren't you supposed to go to Hawaii with Albert for your honeymoon today? Why are you back?"
Clarissa and Albert had long planned to go to Hawaii for their honeymoon. Clarissa was looking forward to this trip with great anticipation.
But instead of setting off as planned, she had returned home, which puzzled Luana.
"This morning, Albert and I were just about to leave when we ran into a security guard. He said that last night, a group of people in black came to our door. They didn't enter our home. They just stood at the door for about half an hour before leaving. The security guard thought it was strange but assumed they were relatives of ours and didn't think much of it. He only mentioned it when he saw us."
"After hearing this, I felt something was off, so I called you, but you didn't answer. I was worried something might have happened to you, so I rushed back to find you."
It turned out that Clarissa had come back because she was worried about Luana.
"I'm sorry, Clarissa," Luana said, filled with guilt.
She quickly explained, "I did run into some trouble yesterday. There was a contract that was very important to Mr. Elan, and I had been delaying giving it to him, which angered him. He stormed into your and Albert's wedding and even sent people to your honeymoon suite. He did all this for the contract, but I managed to get it in the latter half of the night and gave it to him. So the people he sent stood at your door for a while and then left. Everything is resolved now. He won't bother me anymore."
Afraid that Clarissa would worry, Luana didn't tell her about the assault the night before.
She simply provided a reason to alleviate her concerns.
"I thought that Mr. Elan seemed to be threatening you yesterday, and it turns out I was right!"
