In the evening, when it was time to get off work, it began to drizzle in Gabbs. Gloria was slowly walking in the rain.
Gloria arrived at a convenience store near Fittro Club.
"Miss, a total of six dollars and forty cents," the attendant said as she looked at the umbrella Gloria placed on the counter.
Gloria glanced at the umbrella. This was the cheapest one in this store. She then checked her purse. She could afford it, but she hesitated.
"Thank you. The rain is not heavy. I guess I don't need this umbrella."
Walking out of the convenience store, Gloria wrapped herself in her clothes tightly. She lowered her head and continued to walk forward.
The rain was not heavy. However, every time it rained, the wound on her waist would cause more pain.
However, as she reached the dormitory, the rain grew heavier.
Gloria was drenched. She stumbled and finally arrived at the door of her dormitory.
She put the key into the keyhole but the door wouldn't open.
Gloria was stunned.
She looked at the closed door for a while and then forced a smile.
She and Lillian still shared a dorm.
Though, after that incident, they were not on speaking terms.
In fact, none of them felt comfortable living together.
Perhaps Christine had forgotten to switch her dorm, or the management believed that such a trivial conflict between employees was not worth their attention.
But ever since that day, Lillian's attitude towards Gloria had changed greatly.
No matter how disdainful Lillian was towards her, she was never locked out of the dorm.
"Lillian, open the door," Gloria shouted to get Lillian to open the door.
But her shout halted halfway. She slowly lowered her head and shut her mouth. Lillian had made up her mind not to let her in. No matter how she shouted, she would not answer.
Lillian wasn't asleep. What was the point of shouting?
Standing at the door, Gloria looked up at the ceiling and mumbled, "I have nowhere else to go."
If she still had a wolf, she could shift and run into the forest.
But now, she was even weaker than a human.
With her back to the door, Gloria slowly sat on the ground. She leaned against the door and wrapped herself tighter in her clothes. It was so cold.
That night, she leaned against the door behind her and fell asleep just like that.
Endless nightmares repeated every night.
She was standing at the edge of the cliff and felt as if she had fallen into an abyss all of a sudden.
Gloria woke up.
She didn't fall off the cliff, but the door behind her was pulled open from the inside.
"What's wrong with you? Why didn't you sleep on the bed but at the door?"
Ever since that incident, Lillian would turn a blind eye to Gloria every time she saw her, and she would put on a cold face.
Lillian actually offered to talk to her.
However, Gloria was dizzy, and she did not have the energy to deal with Lillian.
"The door was locked from inside last night."
Gloria said flatly. The answer was obvious.
She didn't expect Lillian to apologize to her. She just hoped that Lillian would stop going further.
Lillian said indifferently, "Locked? Maybe I accidentally locked it when I closed the door yesterday."
Accidentally?
No one would believe it.
Gloria shook her head. She didn't want to argue with Lillian. Her head was getting heavier and heavier, and her world was spinning.
"Why are you looking at me like that? It's not my fault. I didn't mean to lock you out. Why didn't you knock or call? What's the point of having a mouth?"
As Gloria listened to the chatter, she frowned. She finally lifted her head. "Lillian, I'm tired."
Lillian acted as if she had not heard anything. Instead, she suddenly looked at Gloria and let out a malicious sneer. "Oh, I get it. You don't use it for communication. You only use it to pick up money from the ground."
"I am exhausted." Gloria held the door frame. She was in no mood to quarrel with Lillian.
However, Lillian refused to let her in. "Wait!"
She grabbed Gloria, who was trying to get in, with a cold expression. She said, "Gloria, I'm warning you, stay away from Derrick!"
Lillian would not admit that she was jealous of Gloria's intimacy with Derrick.
Lillian thought she was different from everyone else who worked at the club. She worked as a waitress only to pay her tuition fee.
Gloria held the door frame. She was worn out. She didn't want to argue with Lillian and just wanted to lie down.
"Lillian, I'm sick."
Lillian was stunned for a moment. She felt humiliated and got emotional. "Gloria, that's enough. Just save it and stop pretending! Seriously? I only said a few words and now you're sick!"
Gloria rubbed her brow, desperate not to argue with Lillian again. "I was caught in the rain last night, since you locked the door."
Gloria was telling the truth, but to her surprise, it got under Lillian's skin.
Perhaps, Lillian always had an opinion of Gloria, and whatever she said was wrong.
"What do you mean by that?" Lillian's face turned cold. "I told you that it was an accident. Are you saying that I locked you out on purpose?"
When Gloria heard Lillian's words, she wanted to argue with her and vent her grievances.
However, she suppressed it before she turned this thought into action.
She thought, 'Gloria, you are no longer the daughter of the Alpha of Silver Spring Pack.'
"Lillian, you got me wrong. All I am trying to say is that I was soaked to the skin and spent the night outside. I am sick and dizzy now. Can we talk after I take a nap?"
Gloria almost begged, and her pale lips revealed her weakness.
She couldn't help but think back to three years ago. She wondered what she would do if she was the Gloria in the past.
