Christine did not know why Patrick was so concerned about Gloria.
However, Christine did know that Patrick hated Gloria a lot. Otherwise, he would not have tortured Gloria like this.
So, after thinking for a few seconds, Christine said in a euphemistic tone, "Nothing out of the line. The guest just asked Gloria to kiss him."
Christine didn't think Patrick would mind.
After all, guests at Fittro Club asked for a kiss from call girls every day. They would also tip more.
The call girls were also more than happy to earn more tips in such a way.
However, what happened next surprised Christine.
Just as she finished speaking, Patrick, who was in Los Angeles, hung up right away.
Patrick's face was stiff. He looked out of the window, thinking about something. And it was obvious that he was suppressing his anger.
Everyone in the conference room was frightened. Patrick, the Alpha, had his usual poker face, and no one knew what he was thinking. The oppressive atmosphere made the other werewolves in the conference room feel suffocated.
Everyone shrunk their shoulders, trying not to make a sound.
Patrick stared out the window coldly. A cold smile gradually appeared on his face.
Christine's voice rang in his head. He thought, 'Nothing out of the line?'
A trace of mockery flashed across his eyes, mixed with uncontrollable anger.
Patrick recalled the night before he came to Los Angeles. Back then, too, he stood at the window of his apartment on Fittro Club's top floor.
He looked into the night. Somehow, he hated seeing Gloria belittle herself. She was so humble that she had no dignity left in her.
He didn't want to see Gloria like that again.
He didn't get it. Three years ago, Gloria meant nothing to him. After three years, however, she could easily trigger his anger.
He could hardly contain his anger when he saw Gloria like that. And when he was angry, his wolf would always appear in his mind and scoff at him.
Patrick didn't want to see Gloria like that. Nor did he want to lose control of his emotions.
So, he came to Los Angeles.
Patrick figured that the reason for his mood swing was simply because he wasn't used to facing the poor woman, who was completely different from the one in his memories.
He thought, 'After I come to Los Angeles, I won't have to see that lowly, poor Gloria for a while. Out of sight, out of mind. Maybe my inexplicable mood swings will go away soon.
Yet she kissed someone else.
Is she so indifferent that she has no boundaries at all?'
"Leonard, get ready to go back," Patrick ordered with a sullen face.
As usual, after Gloria got off work, she walked back to the staff dormitory alone.
Lillian, of course, would not join her.
When Gloria returned to the dormitory, she saw the lights in the living room were on. Lillian was sitting on the sofa in the living room, playing on her phone. Gloria felt a little strange.
At the sight of Gloria, Lillian immediately put down her phone and stood up.
"You're back."
Gloria was even more surprised. She thought, 'In usual days, Lillian would have gone back to her room to sleep already. Yet today she is sitting on the sofa in the living room. Is she waiting for me?'
"Yes," Gloria answered briefly.
She was the silent type.
"I heard today that a guest in the VIP room on the fifth floor called for your service. Who was it?"
Gloria was puzzled. She thought, 'Is Lillian striking up a conversation with me?'
Gloria sized Lillian up again. Then she thought, 'No. That can't be right. She won't do that.'
"He didn't look familiar to me," Gloria said slowly. She knew Lillian wanted to ask if the guest was Derrick.
Lillian was obviously relieved. In the next second, she suddenly looked sharply at Gloria. "The wound on your forehead... Did you tell anyone about it?"
Gloria felt nothing but tired.
She was sick of Lillian's constant probing and questioning.
Was there ever going to be an end or what?
Gloria closed her eyes and then opened them again. She looked at Lillian and said, "You are a straight-A student of Gabbs University, while I am just a janitor who never graduated high school. You and I are from two different worlds. We live in the same dormitory together purely because of work and the company's arrangements. We have nothing in common at all. Given that, why don't we just go our separate ways?"
"Gloria, how can you say that? That's so harsh!" Lillian said.
Lillian didn't get to finish her words. Her eyes were filled with disbelief and astonishment as she looked at the woman, who she regarded as weak and silent, walking past her and into the bedroom without looking sideways.
Lillian pulled a long face at once. She looked at the tightly closed door, enraged.
She got it. Gloria was implying that she was asking for trouble and that she should stop making a scene from now on.
"Fine! Gloria, good for you. You've been insinuating since you joined the Public Relations Department. If you are so enterprising, why are you still working at Fittro Club? Why don't you just quit?" Lillian was furious. She ran to Gloria's door and shouted angrily. Then she turned around and went back to her bedroom.
Gloria leaned against the door and slowly sat on the ground.
Finally, it was quiet.
From today on, her conflict with Lillian deepened.
Lillian didn't bother to conceal her disdain and hatred for Gloria.
The next night at work, Lillian acted more hostile to Gloria, while Gloria remained silent.
They set off separately and came to Fittro Club.
In the corridor, Gloria and Lillian bumped into each other. Maybe Gloria lost her footing, or maybe Lillian intentionally hit Gloria hard. Anyway, Gloria fell and sat on the ground.
Lillian stood in front of Gloria and was about to say something when her eyes suddenly lit up. She actually walked forward to help Gloria up and said, "Are you alright? I'm sorry. I didn't see you. Please don't be mad at me, OK?"
Gloria looked at Lillian strangely. She had no idea why Lillian was suddenly acting so weird.
"Gloria, get up. You might catch a cold if you continue to sit on the ground. You've just recovered and been discharged from the hospital." Lillian held Gloria firmly with both hands.
Then Lillian said in a deliberately gentle tone, "Girls need to protect themselves. Don't sell yourself cheap again."
