Cline coldly interrupted him, "No meeting."
Russell immediately seemed a bit embarrassed. "Mr. Moriarty, he is, after all, the CEO of Coburn Group. Right now, people from Coburn Group are constantly asking me for him. I can't keep him locked up forever..."
Russell's meaning was clear—he could withstand the pressure for a while, but not for long.
Cline's face darkened as he thought for a few seconds, and finally relented, "Let him go."
He then hung up the phone directly and looked at Luana, who was examining him.
In fact, Luana had already guessed who he was talking about and didn't ask.
As long as he was willing to release Calvert, she could thank him later once she had recovered a bit.
Cline stared at the IV drip for a while until the liquid in the bottle was completely gone, then he helped her remove the needle.
Luana glanced at the three bottles of medicine still on the side. Logically, they should be administered one after another.
But Cline removed the needle—did that mean he didn't want her to continue the IV?
As she looked at him in confusion, Cline suddenly lifted the covers, picked her up from the hospital bed, and held her in his arms.
Luana stared blankly at his profile and asked, "Where are we going?"
Cline, holding her, simply said two words, "Home."
The "home" he referred to was not the Mansion No. 8, but his private estate.
This estate was vast, and as soon as you entered, you were greeted by a large garden. From a distance, it looked like you were standing in a sea of flowers.
It took several minutes for the car to drive all the way to the villa, which was a testament to the size of the estate.
The villa was decorated in a French style—simple yet bright, not at all stuffy, but rather elegant and very suitable for living.
When Cline placed her on the soft bed, Luana finally realized that he had brought her back to his home.
"Mr. Moriarty, you..."
Luana wanted to ask why Cline had suddenly brought her home, but the words stuck in her throat.
She lowered her head, not daring to look at the man in front of her.
Cline seemed to see through her thoughts and glanced at her indifferently.
"Rest for a few days, then I'll send you back," he said simply, without explaining further.
This was his way of giving her an answer.
Hearing that he would send her back, Luana felt less nervous.
As for the reason, perhaps it was because he had choked her earlier, almost causing her to suffocate, and he felt guilty, so he brought her home to take care of her.
Although this reason seemed a bit far-fetched, she didn't dare to think about it further.
After helping her lie down on her side, Cline called in the butler.
"Ulrich, prepare some light food, like vegetable salad and yogurt cups," he instructed.
"Yes, sir," Ulrich replied respectfully and then left.
As soon as Ulrich left, Cline called in two maids to prepare some feminine supplies and help Luana with her hygiene.
With her back injuries and heart failure symptoms, even the slightest movement caused her pain, so she really needed help with washing up.
She was thinking about how to ask Cline for help when she realized he had already anticipated it and made all the arrangements for her.
Luana felt a bit touched and whispered, "Thank you..."
Cline didn't respond. He just glanced at her and then left the room.
He sat down in the sofa area on the second floor and took out his laptop to start working.
It wasn't until the butler, Ulrich, brought up the prepared vegetable salad and yogurt that he stopped working and looked up at Ulrich. "Give it to me," he said.
Ulrich was taken aback for a moment but quickly understood that Cline was going to personally deliver the food to the young lady in the room.
No wonder he had been working in the sofa area outside. He had been waiting here for the food.
Realizing this, Ulrich hurriedly handed the tray to him. "Be careful," he said.
Cline nodded slightly, got up, and walked towards the guest room with the tray.
The maids had just finished blow-drying Luana's hair and quickly bowed their heads and tiptoed out of the room when they saw Cline enter.
Luana looked very clean, her face free of makeup, and her complexion appeared particularly pale, almost bloodless.
If it weren't for her beautiful and striking features, which masked some of her illness, Cline might have thought she had a terminal illness.
Fortunately, he had seen her medical report. Aside from her congenital heart disease, there were no other issues, so he didn't think too much about it.
He placed the tray on the bedside table, picked up an oat energy bar from it, broke off a small piece, and brought it to Luana's lips.
"Eat something," he said.
Luana stared blankly at him, not reacting for a moment. The person who had prepared food for her and was now feeding her was actually Cline.
"Don't like it?" he asked, putting down the oat energy bar and picking up the yogurt cup.
He scooped up a spoonful and brought it to her lips again, gesturing for her to open her mouth.
When the yogurt touched her lips, Luana snapped out of her shock.
She numbly opened her small mouth and ate the yogurt bit by bit.
"More?" he asked after spoon-feeding her.
He then picked up the vegetable salad, intending to continue feeding her.
Luana quickly shook her head. "No more, thank you."
