Trapped by Him

Chapter 394

Feb 22, 2026 392 / 398

After Eva left, Cline glanced towards the guest bedroom and noticed the door was ajar. His expression darkened immediately.

He unconsciously quickened his pace and entered the room, only to see Luana adjusting the IV drip.

Her small, palm-sized face showed no significant emotional fluctuation. She remained as gentle and well-behaved as before.

She even smiled at him when he entered, which dispelled his doubts.

The volume of his conversation with Eva hadn't been loud enough for her to overhear.

Cline subconsciously let out a breath of relief and sat down beside her bed, asking, "Feeling better?"

Luana nodded and replied, "A bit better."

Then, they fell into silence. The atmosphere was somewhat awkward.

Seeing that Cline had no intention of leaving, Luana couldn't help but speak up, "Mr. Moriarty, could you help me find my bag?"

Her bag had been left in the banquet hall at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Her phone and other belongings were inside.

She was worried that Clarissa would be anxious if she couldn't find her, so she had to ask Cline to retrieve her bag first.

Cline was somewhat bothered by the way she addressed him as "Mr. Moriarty."

Although she had called him that before, it didn't feel distant to him.

However, after their separation, every time she used that title, it felt like she was drifting further away from him.

Frowning slightly, he brushed away the thoughts from his mind, took out his phone, and called Russell.

Russell had just led his men away from the city hospital but had no choice but to return and forcibly take Luana's bag from Calvert.

Holding the white leather bag in his hand, Russell couldn't help but shake his head, thinking this might be the most childish thing he had ever done in his life.

When Russell arrived at the villa with the bag, Cline had already left the guest bedroom and was focused on handling work in his study.

Russell knocked on the study door and entered after receiving permission. "Mr. Moriarty, this is Miss Hammond's bag," he said, handing the bag to Cline.

Cline glanced at Ulrich standing nearby and said, "You take it to her first."

"Yes, sir," Ulrich replied, taking the bag from Russell and leaving the room.

After Ulrich closed the door, Russell began to report the latest situation to Cline. "Mr. Moriarty, Calvert is sending people everywhere to find Miss Hammond. Judging by his behavior, he won't give up until he finds her. Moreover, Miss Ortega is also investigating who the woman you were holding yesterday was. I'm afraid that if this continues, it might alert your mother..."

Just mentioning his mother made Russell break out in cold sweat, and he didn't dare to imagine the consequences of disturbing her.

"Eva will handle Runa. As for Calvert..." A flash of coldness crossed Cline's eyes at the mention of the name. It made him uncomfortable, as if touching a nerve. "Let him look."

If Calvert could find her, that was his ability.

Whether he would be allowed to see Luana was not up to him.

Russell glanced at the determined Cline and could see how strong his possessiveness was from the look in his eyes.

He had initially wanted to persuade Cline to return Luana to Calvert, but seeing his expression, he wisely kept silent.

Cline probably still couldn't let go of Luana, which was why he was clashing with Calvert.

However, since Cline hadn't revealed his feelings, Russell didn't dare to point it out.

He respectfully replied, "Yes, Mr. Moriarty," and went to try to block all the news.

Although everyone in the villa was the Cline's confidant, they couldn't withstand the tactics of Madam Moriarty.

Russell felt that at this moment, he should help Cline remove all obstacles instead of persuading him to let go of Luana.

Luana was unaware of the situation in the study.

Seeing Ulrich bring her bag into the room, she quickly forced herself to sit up.

"Miss Hammond, here's your bag," Ulrich said.

Luana took the bag with both hands and thanked him, "Thank you."

Ulrich smiled kindly and said, "It was Mr. Moriarty who had it retrieved for you. If you want to thank someone, thank him."

Luana's lips curled into a polite smile, but she didn't respond.

Ulrich didn't want to stay in the room for long and reminded her to "rest well" before leaving.

After Ulrich left, Luana opened her bag and took out her phone to check.

Just now, Clarissa had called her more than a dozen times.

Luana was startled and quickly returned the call. The phone only rang once before Clarissa answered.

"Luana, what's going on? Why is Albion at our doorstep?" Clarissa's voice was full of surprise before Luana could even speak. "He's not here to take revenge on you after five years, is he?"

Luana didn't expect Calvert to show up at her door.

"Clarissa, he's not here for revenge," Luana explained, telling Clarissa about the company's request for her to host Calvert.

Hiding at the stairway entrance, Clarissa frowned and muttered a few complaints about "what a complicated relationship."

After venting, she unconsciously glanced at the man guarding the door again.

"Luana, he has bandages on his head and is wearing a hospital gown. He looks a bit off," Clarissa said.
