Abbie

I sat on the sofa with my hands covering my face as I grunted. I am too confused. Ok, I'll admit it. A part of me wants him... I do. I want him badly, and I feel... I feel I still love him. But it hurts to know that he didn't care to wait for me. I know I can't be mad because this is something he did while he and I didn't know we were mates, but it's different for us werewolves than what love means for humans.

Each of us werewolves is partnered with someone for life, they are our fated soul mates, and it is so sacred that being with them in a relationship can make us stronger, just as it can weaken us if we are rejected. It can kill us, if one is gone, and it hurts physically if one is unfaithful.

The bond makes it difficult to not be attracted to them, it's like... being under a spell or hit by a cupid arrow. You are instantly drawn to them. Your body feels like euphoria, the most beautiful spark that could exist. It's like... a tingling sensation when they touch you, making it seem like, invisible kisses left behind by them in that exact spot.

I want to be able to be with him, but how can I trust that he will not hurt me? How can I trust that he will be faithful? I am not going to be the laughing stock to the girls he's already slept with. I won't have it I want something pure and honest.

A soft knock brought me out of thought, making me look up. I got up, opened the door, and smiled as I saw a pretty girl with beautiful brown eyes, holding a tray with a plate filled with red velvet cake, decorated beautifully with red rose petals.

"Hi, I hope I'm not bothering you. My name is Olivia Dannelly, Livie for short, I'm alpha Alarick's mate. Uhm... Alarick and Hunter are best friends from college. I wasn't sure if you knew." my eyes widened in surprise, making my smile grow. So, Mr most eligible bachelor graduated college already? Lucky him. Ok, I know I'm being sour, I have a degree in business too, but... damn it, I so badly want my certification to become a teacher.

"Hi,"

"Hi," she repeated with a chuckle.

"Can I... Come in?" she asks politely, making me feel dumbfounded, "Oh, yes, yes... please, come in." I move out of the way, allowing her to move past me.

That's when I noticed her small round belly, making my heart swell with joy. Goddess, I want that. I do, I really do, but... will it ever happen to me?

She sets the tray down and sits on the sofa with a big sigh of relief. "Oh, my... I am so tired," she says making me chuckle.

"Oh, sorry... right, so... how is Hunter treating you? I hope he's being a gentleman. How's your stay here so far? Did you get to be reacquainted with him? Sorry... I know I'm asking too many questions, I just... you don't know how happy I am to finally meet THE ABBIE Hunter has always talked about." she says making me feel confused. I smiled awkwardly, crossing my hands and hugging myself.

"I...uhm. It's nice. I love this room, it's wow!" I say, making her chuckle. "Yeah, he does have a nice room, doesn't he? Alpha Werewolves... they seem to love having big rooms. The first time I met Ricky and I saw our room, I almost got lost in there!" she says with big eyes filled with gleam, making me smile.

"Anyway... I don't want to take too much of your time. The girls in the kitchen told me you had already eaten and since Hunter ordered for them to bring you more food, I figured I should bring you dessert instead. I hope you don't mind. But- We have been so busy with preparations for the party that I hadn't made time aside to come meet you. I'm so happy to finally be able to meet you, honestly. Hunter was right, you really are beautiful." she smiled, stood up, and hugged me tightly, making my eyes widen in surprise, but her hug was so welcoming that I couldn't help but hug her back.

"I hope you don't see it too forward, but I hope we can be friends. Lily and the rest of our group will be joining in her room tonight, to pick out our gowns for tomorrow's event. I hope you can join us."

"She definitely will, sis. She'll be there. My mate deserves to wear the best gown." Hunter says making me startled. We turned to see him as he came down the stairs, wearing fresh sweatpants and a T-shirt. She smiled from ear to ear, making me feel out of place.

"Hi, you," she says smiling as he comes and hugs her.

"You better be your best with this girl. I really like her. You were right, she is gorgeous."

"I told you she was. You bet I will in my best behavior with her. Only if she lets me spoil her though," he says, looking at me and winking. They seem to know each other very well. And if so, then she knows what he's really like. Maybe I will go to this... event thing with them tonight.

"Oh, by the way... Brandon should be arriving in just a few more hours. And, he asks that you have the tracks ready for... you know." she says making me look between both lost in thought. "Right. Well, it looks like it might rain, so... we might have to postpone for tomorrow morning," he says, making her shake her head in agreement. "Right. Boys... ill never get used to your shenanigans. Just... stay safe, will you?" she tilts her head, making him chuckle.

"Always, sis," he says, smirking and winking at me.

"Alright, you two love birds. I will see myself out. I have to go check on my babies and make sure Ricky is not feeding them sweets again or I will be up all night trying to get them to sleep." she chuckled, hugging Hunter, and then hugged me tightly. "Again. It's great to finally meet you, Abbie. I hope you can join us later in Lily's room," she says smiling. Hunter smiles from ear to ear, grabbing the plate with the cake and taking a fork full of cake to his mouth.

"Hey! That's Abbie's cake. I gave you some earlier, put it down." She says, pointing at him and making him pout.

"But,"

"Put it... down, Hunter Black or there will be no chocolate chip cookies for you tonight."

He gasps, pouting and putting the plate down. "Good boy. Bye, Abbie. I'll make sure to save you some cookies ok?" she says, making me chuckle. Ok, I officially like her. She's so sweet.

"Thank you."

"And for the record, you don't need to share them with him. They'll be a nice big batch just for you," she says, making him gasp like a little kid who had just been disappointed with mom's scolding.

"I'll see you two later."

"Bye, Livie. It was good meeting you." I say as I walk with her to the door. "No, Abbie. It was my honor meeting you. You have no idea how long we have hoped to find you. You won't believe how long he's searched for you. He made Ricky and the boys go from one town to the other looking for you. I'm glad you're finally here." she says, making my eyes widen in shock.

Was she pulling my leg, or was she being real about this? Goddess, why is it that everyone is speaking so nicely about him, and yet... a part of me is still mad at him for whatever reason...My mind is spinning with so many doubts. But there's one person I can talk to to clear my head and sort my doubts. Someone whom I know... will not lie to me, even if it was his own blood... Lily.

I hug Livie, close the door, and sigh, pressing my back against the door. "So... you want to watch a movie?" Hunter asks, making me look at him pondering. He smiled awkwardly, rubbing the back of his head.

A thunder roars, making us turn. The sun had gone down and I hadn't noticed that it had suddenly gotten cloudy. It began raining really hard outside, making the air feel a little cold. He pressed a button on a small remote, making the windows close automatically. I had to admit, the rain made the room look so majestic with all these windows. It felt warm inside, and he turned the jumbo screen on, turning it onto an app to watch a movie.

"Uhm, actually... I was hoping to go visit your sister now. Would that be ok with you? I haven't seen her in so long." I said, making his eyes grow.

"Uh... yeah. Sure. I'll take you to her." he says, looking at me a bit disappointed. "We can watch a movie after I talk to her. Is that ok?" I said, making him look at me surprised. "Sure, Abs. If... you want of course... hey, Abs!" he asks, making me turn to him again.

"Yeah."

"I missed you. I really did," he says, making my heart swell. Goddess... what is wrong with me? This all feels so wrong. Maybe Merida is right... something doesn't add up, and I need to get to the bottom of things. Before I make a big mistake that I may regret later in life.
