Christian
I storm through the fields and all the debris that's fallen out of the sky while cursing to myself. I keep going until I reach one of the old storm-proofed barns that we now use as a gym and don't stop until I'm inside and throwing all my anger at the old leather punch bag that's hanging down from the ceiling by a chain that's properly older than me but that thing holds well, they don't make them like that anymore.
My knuckles are throbbing in just a few minutes which is my own stupid fault for not wrapping them but at this moment I don't care. "Chris." I don't stop unleashing my anger when I hear Jack's voice, I keep going while the sweat rolls down my head and body and I'm panting with every breath that I take.
"Chris, talk to me brother, what's going on?" Jack soon appears at my side, a deep look of concern across his face. "I'm fine!" I grunt out the words even when they are a big fat lie and unluckily for me Jack knows me too well and the new look on his face is calling bullshit right now. "Talk to me."
He steps away from me as I stop punching the bag. I put my hands on my hips while looking at the ceiling like it holds all the answers as I try to catch my breath. "Here." I look up just in time to catch a bottle of water that he throws at me. I love this boy. I open the bottle and drink almost half of it before I came up for air.
Jack makes his way over to an old workbench that we only ever use to put our stuff on and hops up on it to take a seat. I place the bottle down next to him so that I can take off my top and use it as a towel to wipe away the sweat from my body. "Are the kids ok?" I'm still working on catching my breath but I need to check in on them.
I kind of just left them there and stormed off and while I know that they were perfectly fine with my family I still feel like a massive dick for doing it but my anger was rising too quickly and I didn't want to do or say something that I would regret or that I didn't want my kids to see or hear.
"They're fine. Katie is still sleeping and Brody and Sophie are currently chasing Callum around." The kids love chasing Callum around, he's great at being dramatic, but not as good as Tom mind you.
"Now do you wanna tell me what's up with you?"
"It's just been one hell of a day and I guess it just all got too much for me." My answer is a shit one, It's too obvious but I hope he believes me because I'm not up for him digging any deeper than needed right now.
"Yes it has but we both know that isn't the reason for you acting like this so how about you tell me the truth? Whatever is going on just let it out, brother. I'm here, I'm listening and I ain't going anywhere until you've talked to me!" Dam this boy! Why does he have to know me so well? He called my bullshit a long time ago when things were hitting the rocks with Amy and now he's doing it again with Molly, even if he doesn't know that she's the reason why.
"Chris, I know this has something to do with Molly so spill, now!" Fuck my life! He either needs to get a better life and stop paying so much attention to others or become a fucking medium, I try to stare him down, willing him to leave it alone but he just raises his eyebrows showing me his stubborn streak, and crosses his arms while getting comfy on the workbench.
"I don't know what you're talking about Jack, this has nothing to do with Molly." He looks at me like I've grown two heads while I debate using him as a punching bag instead of the one hanging behind me, not that I would actually do that but still it's nice to envision this shit sometimes.
"Bullshit and you know it but fine, if it isn't about Molly then what is it about?" I don't believe he's gonna drop this conversation involving Molly but he's given me an opening to try and convince him differently and I'm going to take it.
I start wrapping my tee shirt around my fist as I start to pace around the barn, my anger is still simmering right under the surface but I try to keep it at bay. "This day has been a fucking nightmare and it can just get fucked! I've had a fuck full! We busted our balls doing the kid's room just for this fucking Tornado to come along and destroy it all, to destroy our home. We had to rescue Molly and George from the river when I should have been in the storm shelter with my kids and if that wasn't enough I had to go rescue her ass again when she decided to go play Dr Doolittle!"
By the time I stop to take a breath, I'm panting and angry again and if that wasn't enough I quickly realize that I have only gone and turned the conversation towards Molly and I bet that fucker knew that it would happen too. Fuck me! "You didn't have to go to the river Chris, we could have taken care of it while you were with the kids, none of us would have judged you and you know it. As for running after Molly when she went to the barn well, that was your choice again but you also know that too don't you?"
I look up and there's Jack staring back at me with a cocky ass smirk across his face. Asshole! "What's that look for?" He gets off the workbench and comes to stand in front of me, his cooky smirk now turning more concerned. "You can talk to me Christian, you know that." I know I can but I wouldn't even know where to begin. I'm not sure what's going on with me when it comes to Molly so how the hell would I be able to explain it to Jack when I don't even know what's happening myself?
I need more time to figure shit out so I go with playing dumb. "I don't know what you're on about, Jack," He lets out a laugh as he looks at the ground shaking his head before looking back up at me "You do know what Christian and if you don't then you are one major dam ass!"
"Christian, you good?" Tom's voice pulls both of our attention toward the barn door. I nod my head feeling crap for getting shitty with Tom outside. "Are we good?" I ask. He nods giving me a smile "Always brother." Jack looks between us as Tom walks over to me and throws his arms around me. "What even happened between the two of you?"
"Christian got mad at Mitch asking for Molly's number so I told him that he had no right to be sticking his nose in and that she's free to give him her number if she wants to and well, he didn't like that." Jack bursts out laughing before giving Tom a knowing look that I don't understand before turning his attention back to me. "I was right... dum ass. Here, put this on." He takes off his shirt that he's wearing over a tee shirt and hands it to me which I'm grateful for, it's bloody freezing outside.
"Oh, and this conversation isn't over! Right, we need to get back, Callum wants to start foaming a plan." Thank fuck for that distraction. I'm the first one out of the door with those two knuckleheads right behind me. We soon get back to the others and instantly I can sense that something is wrong and I don't mean anything to do with the Tornado either. Maybe they are pissed at me for leaving as I did, I wouldn't blame them really.
A loud scream rings through the air and my head snaps to the direction that it's coming from only to find Molly down on the ground holding on to her left hand. A mix of fear and anger invades my body as I make quick work to reach her, I want to know that she's ok while at the same time, I'm also cursing her inside my head. What the fuck has she done now?
