Kacie
Viktor and I waited for Beta Jake and his sister, Jamie in a room I hadn’t been in before. After what happened with Clara we decided to talk to them and figure out how we should go about it.
My phone buzzed against my leg, and I reached into my pants pocket and looked at the screen. Seeing a number I didn’t recognize, I inhaled a deep breath before answering.
“Hello?”
Other than labored breathing there was silence on the other end.
“You’ve been a bad girl, haven’t you?” The voice asked. My hands trembled and my breath shook.
“How is it like spreading your legs for him? Hmm?” He asked, sounding like he had every right to me and my body.
“Do you like it there? Do you like warming his bed bitch?” He growled, and my body shook in fear.
I didn’t answer, couldn’t answer. I was confused as to why he was calling, why he thought he owned me when he knew Viktor was my mate.
“Kace,” Ken started, “You’ve made me very angry. You know how I hate it when you make me angry,” he snapped.
I stood there with my mouth slightly open, not understanding what the hell his problem was. My fear slowly spread throughout my body.
“Look,” I whisper, keeping my voice calm, “I have no idea why you’re calling me-” “I’m tired of you being there. You’re supposed to be my Luna,” he reiterated, barking at me.
I clenched my teeth, “No,” I gritted out.
“No?” He growled, his voice dangerously low.
“No, I don’t belong to you,” I say, trying to keep the fear out of my voice.
Viktor’s eyes shoot to me as he hears my conversation.
“I supposed I’ve let you stay there too long.”
“My mate is here. There’s nowhere else that I belong.” I shot out.
My phone beeped, and I pulled it away from my ear seeing Call Ended. I dropped my head back. Viktor’s arms wrap around and I relax in his arms.
“Are you okay?” He asks.
I nod.
“What was that about?”
“Alpha Ken…” I say, and I feel his body tenses. “We’ll talk about it later. Right now we. need to deal with Clara.”
Viktor nods.
Jake and Jamie walked in and watched our faces for a reaction. Striding over they sat on the couch facing us.
“What’s this about?” Jake asked, suspicion written on his face.
“We called you here to talk about Clara,” Viktor explained.
“I think this means we can rip her throat out,” Athena says happily.
The familiar heat started building up in the soles of my feet, spreading up my legs and threatening to take control.
“No, we can’t just rip her throat out, Athena. She’s a witch. I think it’s going to take more than just physical strength to bring her down,” I tell her.
“What about the witch?” He says, spitting the word witch with disgust.
“I’m going to reject her tonight,” Viktor says.
The shocked look on Jake’s face is just a little bit satisfying to watch. Jamie’s eyes widen in surprise.
“Why the sudden change? Just the other night you two were against the idea of getting rid of her and now you’re on board?” Jamie asks.
“Kacie is my mate and she will be Luna. There is no question about that. I don’t need to get to know her and that’s nothing a few dates are going to change,” Viktor says. His words cause me to blush slightly.
“I’m hoping when I reject her as my mate, that it’ll break the bond I feel to her. I will kick her from our territory tonight.”
“And you think she’ll just leave?” Jamie interjects.
“If she knows I won’t take her as my mate she’ll have no reason to stay here. Witches aren’t allowed on pack territory. If I reject her, I no longer have a reason to keep her here.”
“Let’s hope this goes well,” Jake mutters.
“Our only priority should be figuring out how to deal with the rogue attacks. We have no time to waste on a witch,” Viktor states.
“I’m going to take her out tonight by the border so I’ll be back late,” Viktor says to me.
“Okay,” I tell him.
“I think it’s best that you’re not there.”
“She deserves punishment,” Athena seethed.
“We don’t want to risk the wrath of a witch, Athena. Think of our pack.”
She grumbled but stayed quiet.
I look at Viktor and nod. I don’t need to be there. She tried to drive a wedge between Viktor and me. As much as I want retribution for what she did to me, it’s best if I’m not there when he rejects her.
“I wanted to hold the meeting to inform you two,” Viktor says, gesturing to Jake and Jamie. “As my Beta and Gamma, you two should always be in the loop.”
They nod.
“Thank you Alpha,” Jake says.
Jamie nods at Viktor.
And just like that, Clara’s fate was decided.

After a cool shower, I dried myself and dressed in silk shorts and a matching silk top. I climbed into his bed and snuggled in his blankets. Being in his large bed without him felt empty and cold. Two hours had passed since he left me with Jamie and Jake.
A light wind blew outside and bare tree branches scraped against the bedroom windows. I never noticed the sounds from the clock on the wall but tonight it was keeping me up and driving me insane.
Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock…
I wasn’t afraid of the dark, but you became aware of things under the blanket of darkness night brought. When I was alone I constantly relayed all the bad things I’d ever gone through. I didn’t pity myself, I hated myself. Hated that I let him do the things he did to me. Hated that he’d broken me.
It wasn’t pity I was feeling… it was self-loathing. I stared at the window and the light from the moon pooled in. I wouldn’t let his call break me, I wouldn’t be afraid anymore.
A shadow slowly grew along the floor and I turned to look behind me and my eyes widened as the outline of a man towered over me.
