Kacie

Now that I was back in the packhouse I couldn’t stop the thoughts that I’d pushed away all day. My feet grew heavier as I headed toward my room. I hadn’t seen or heard from Viktor since he left last night. The same goes for Jake. Something dark was eating at me and I was helpless to the endless possibilities of where he could have gone or where he could be. They must have gone to work because nothing was out of place. It was like any other day and wasn’t at the same time. My guys weren’t here. I was alone. They weren’t here with me.

Who is responsible for that?

I ignored Athena’s words. She wasn’t being harsh but I didn’t want to hear it. Anger bloomed and began to fester again as I thought of Viktor and Jake. I had been upset yesterday but them being together again without me didn’t go unnoticed. They were supposed to link or tell me somehow. They promised not to leave me out again and that’s just what they did.

I swallowed down the emotion that started to bubble up. I wasn’t going to cry about them. Even if they didn’t do it on purpose or did it intentionally, they still left me out again. I threw the door open and slammed it shut behind me. I didn’t bother with the lights. I could walk through this room with my eyes closed.

I walked into the bathroom and did my best to ignore what happened in here last night. They had left. Was I a bit crazy? Yes. But life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. Jake was in the wrong yet I was expected to beg him to stay? I stepped into the shower under the ice cold water. I shut my eyes tight, and my heart broke as the memory of Viktor walking out of me replayed in my head.

The shower had been a place where I could come and cry. Now that I stood in the bathroom alone, I didn’t want to. I felt wronged. They had both wronged me. I was too angry to cry. My face was wet but that was because of the water. The anger outweighed the sadness. I wanted to yell, scream, and hit things. I wanted to break things. I wanted to yell until I felt better. I was starting to think that it was a good thing that they left. If they had stayed with me like this I think things would have gotten more out of hand. Wolves need their partners, but some time apart may be good for us.

When I turn the faucet off and climbed out of the shower, I grabbed a towel and dry myself off. I don’t bother with my hair and droplets drip down my back and chest. I throw the towel into the hamper and throw the door open. The first thing I notice is that the light is on. I’m about to go into fight mode when my gaze locks one Viktor across the room.

Without thinking about it my eyes trail down his body and my mouth waters. He’s sitting on the bed wearing shorts. Just shorts. He’s leaning forward with his elbows on his thighs. Greedily my eyes wandered over his chiseled pecs. His chest rises and falls with each breath. I can tell from the way his hair is wild I know he was just running.

The first thing I feel when I see him is lust. I want him. Of course I want him. He’s my mate. He’s my everything, but he hurt me. He let me down last night and he spent the night out. This was the first time he’s done that for any reason other than for work. He’s never left me by myself.

On top of that, I haven’t heard from him since. He could of let me know or linked me but he didn’t. As much as I want to hate him I can’t. My foolish heart won’t let me, but I’m hurt and I’m angry. If he’s here to beg for my forgiveness it won’t be easy. I can feel my wolf beg me not to fight him, but my human part can’t fathom letting him just get away with it.

That’s not how relationships go.You don’t get to up and leave and then come back when you feel like it. If I did that they’d both be pissed. I couldn’t even go out with girls without one of them following me like an over protective boyfriend, or like a stalker. I don’t think I’m being ridiculous and I’m not going to apologize for it. Viktor looked up and our eyes locked. His expression was stern and a frown pulled at his lips.

“Come here,” he said quietly.

“I’m fine here.”

Viktor shook his head and lifted his hand to his temple. I watched as he rubbed his temple with his index and middle fingers. He inhaled and exhaled as if he needed to do it to calm himself from getting angry with me.

“Come here, Kacie. We need to talk.”

Viktor’s voice was firm and I hated how those four words made me feel like I was in trouble. I’m not a kid and I don’t have to do everything to please him. I ignored the Athena’s pleading voice in my head. I didn’t want to stoop down and try to do everything in my power to please him. I could be angry too. He wasn’t the only one who could be angry. I wouldn’t be pathetic even for my mate.
