180 Losing

“The Moon Goddess made you for me and I didn’t damn her for it. I thanked her for blessing me with someone so amazing,” Viktor said sweetly.

“You still think so after seeing all of my crazy colors?” I asked.

“Always,” Viktor said. “Do you love Jake?”

“Yes,” I whimpered. “Do you think of him any differently now that we know who his fated mate is?” Viktor asked.

“No,” I whispered. “But… I couldn’t forgive him if he’s slept with her. Could you?” I asked.

“I love him Kacie. I love him as much as I love you. I would be hurt if we found out that he’d been with her. But…”

“But?” I asked.

“Yes. But. I would forgive him if he officially rejected her. If he still chose us after finding her I wouldn’t turn him away,” Viktor said.

“I-I don’t know, Vik…”

“However, if you don’t want him to stay by our side… I will respect your decision. If you want to end our relationship with him… It would break me but I would do as you say, My Queen,” Viktor murmured.

“I don’t know. I don’t want to talk about this anymore right now,” I cried.

A pain stabbed me in the stomach. I gasped as I fell forward. Viktor caught me and I gripped my side tightly. I tried to breathe but I was hit with another bolt of pain. I looked up at my mate and his eyes mirrored my own fear.

“Kacie baby, what’s wrong?” Viktor asked frantically.

I’ve never seen him so worried. The greatest alpha in the country was strong and bold. He never wavered and he never showed fear. But the love of my life looked back at me with a look that told me he though the worst. Before I could tell him it wasn’t what he thought I froze. I felt a warm liquid between my thighs.

No.

Please no.

No.

No.

No.

As if reading my mind Viktor’s eyes widened. His hand gently touched my belly and his eyes lowered to between my legs. I wanted to ask him if what I thought it was but the look in his eyes told me it was. I was bleeding. Viktor’s eyes clouded over and after a second he picked me up in his arms. I wrapped my arms around his neck, buried my head into his chest, and sobbed. He carried me into the bathroom and put me down on my feet as he turned on the shower. He didn’t look at me as we stepped beneath the water. I lowered my chin but his fingers stopped me. He lifted up and I was forced to look up into his eyes. He shook his head and only when I nodded did he let me go. He reached for the shampoo and lathered it in the palm of his hand before he brought it to my hair.

What did the doctor say, Viktor?

Doctor James will be here soon.

But what did he say?

He won’t know until he gets here.

Why are we in the shower then, Viktor?

I’m taking care of you until he gets here. Are we-am I…

No.

“Are we losing it?” I asked.

“Damn it. I said no Kacie!” Viktor yelled.

“Okay,” I whispered.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and he supported his weight with his hand on the wall behind me. His shoulder shook as he pressed his forehead to mine. My mate was as scared as I was. He didn’t want to lose it as much if not more than me. We held each other and cried until he straightened his back.

“He’s here,” Viktor murmured. “I’ll bring you clothes.” He stepped out of the shower and returned a few minutes later with clothes.

“It’s okay if you’re still bleeding. The doctor is going to check you out and let us know what’s going on,” Viktor said hoarsely.

“Okay,” I whispered.

He leads me out after I dress and my gaze locks on the doctor. We just saw him yesterday. I’m not ready but I can’t hide. We both need to know.

“Good morning, Luna,” Doctor Jame said. He looked to Viktor and he nodded. Doctor James reached out and helped me to the bed. “I’m here to do a check up since you guys have noticed the bleeding.”

“Thank you,” I murmured.

“No need to thank me, Luna,” Doctor James said. “Now lay back for me.” I lay back and he begins to gently feel my belly. “I’m going to press now. It may feel uncomfortable.” I nodded. He proceeded to press into my belly in different places. It was uncomfortable but nothing I couldn’t handle. There was a knock on the door and when Viktor opened the door one of the nurses from yesterday bowed and walked in.

“I’m not one hundred percent sure on the health of the child but I do know it’s still there,” Doctor James said. The nurse began setting up behind him. “We’re going to do another ultrasound to check if the child is okay.”

I lifted my shirt as the nurse passed him the gelled tool he had used on my stomach the day before. He grabbed it and turned to me. Viktor grabbed my hand and I looked up at him.

“I’m right here, my love,” Viktor said.

I nodded and turned back to the doctor as cold liquid pressed against my belly. We held our breath while we watched the screen in anticipation. I was about to give up hope when a loud sound came from the monitor.

“That’s the heartbeat,” Doctor James said. He looked at us with a smile on his face. “False alarm.” Viktor choked and held himself up by grabbing the headboard. Tears pricked my eyes.

“Thank the Goddess,” he whispered.

“Thank the Goddess,” Doctor James repeated.

“Sometimes bleeding can occur during pregnancy. But please don’t hesitate to call me if it happens again,” Doctor James said.

“Thank you,” I cried. “Thank you so much.”

When he left with the nurse, Viktor got on his knees by the bed. He pulled my hands to his lips and kissed them over and over again.

“I’m so glad the two of you are okay,” he whispered.
