Chapter 28

She explains everything with such details that the hair on my arms stands up. Who could even imagine something like that? When the woman pulls out a folder with documents, any remaining doubts about the truthfulness of her words vanish. And now, all that’s left is to bring her plan to reality. I never thought I would have anything in common with Marina, but what she’s doing now is worthy of my respect.

- The best time to do this is at the investors' ball. It’s next Saturday. - I agree with her. We have 8 days to arrange everything, but even the time buffer and all the evidence don’t guarantee that the consequences won’t be catastrophic. But right now, we have no other choice, so we will take the risk.

- Does Adam know? - Another point I don’t quite understand is why she came to me and not to him.

- No. He might not believe it. Think it’s me being jealous. - And there’s logic in that. In an emotional state, he might not even bother to look at the documents, simply not believing Marina’s words.

- I’ll have to tell him. - I don’t want any new secrets. We aren’t done with the old ones yet.

- I don’t care. The only thing I want is revenge. - I look at the woman and see only genuine hatred for the person who wants to ruin so many lives.

- I can promise you that. - Marina leaves, leaving me with the folder full of evidence that I’ll review for the third time. I only get distracted when Adam calls and says he’s waiting for me, so I quickly get ready, grab the folder, and think about how to properly tell him what I learned today all the way to the car.

- Hi. - Kelly stands next to the car with a huge bouquet of white roses. - This is for you. - He hands me the flowers, which I can barely hold.

- Thank you. - Tears well up in my eyes. Damn hormones. - They are beautiful.

It’s not even about the flowers but about who is giving them.

I place the flowers on the back seat and kiss the man. He opens the door for me, and we set off.

- I thought maybe you could move in with me? - Wow, what an unexpected turn. My mind certainly wasn’t ready for this.

- That’s very unexpected. - I look at the man, who radiates so much calmness that I want to borrow some for myself.

- I think it will be more convenient. Don’t you think I’ll be able to leave you alone for even one night now? - Adam looks at me with such a smile that my whole body tightens with excitement. That look of his.

- I don’t even know. I have to return to London when I settle things here. - We just didn’t manage to talk about it, but I really will need to go there, at least to sort out all matters and hand them over to my assistant.

The man grips the steering wheel so tightly that the knuckles on his hands turn white, and his jaw moves side to side.

- Adam. - I place my hand on his knee, but the man doesn’t even glance my way.

- Kitten, I won’t be able to live without you. - The car pulls over to the side of the road, and he leans his head back against the seat and rubs his temples.

- Adam, that doesn’t mean I’m leaving you. I just need to go for a while to sort things out. - I take his hand in mine, and Adam relaxes a bit. - And I wouldn’t mind moving in with you, even right now. - Our eyes meet, and I see relief.

- I love you. - Adam kisses my hands, and we drive to my place to collect my things.

I still need to tell him about the meeting with Marina, about our plan, but right now I don’t want to strain the situation. Adam’s face just lights up with happiness since I accepted his offer to move in, so while packing, we talk about some little things and the auction tomorrow.

A few hours later, the man brings me to a luxurious house near the sea. The whole yard and the house are in loft style, which completely matches the aura of its owner. But despite the black-and-white colors and almost complete absence of all the small details that provide coziness, the house smells like home.

- You can change anything here that you want. - Adam carries my suitcase to the second floor while I continue to explore everything that’s here.

He descends very quietly and hugs me from behind.

- What do you say? - His voice sounds right by my ear, exhaling warmth that makes warmth gather in my lower abdomen.

- I like everything. - And right now, with him standing so close and with his scent enveloping me, I don’t care at all about what’s around us. Even if he had taken me to a cave with bear skins. My brain would refuse to work just to enjoy this aroma.

- Want me to show you our bedroom? - Adam’s eyes darken, and I feel moisture gathering between my legs.

- Is it ours? - I want to tease him a little, but the man lifts me onto his arms, bites my earlobe and whispers in my ear:

- Everything is ours now because you are mine. - At his words, my body ignites, and all I want now is to feel the man deep inside me.

We ascend to the bedroom; Adam lays me on the bed and undresses me. Quickly, without ceremonies. And while his clothes fly around the room, I still manage to remember that I need to tell him. I will definitely do it after, but when the man falls on me and pushes inside with a sharp thrust, my last thoughts scatter to dust. Adam kisses, bites, one hand smooths and presses my clitoris while the other works on my breasts. The pain on the edge of pleasure when he pinches my nipple while thrusting deeply into me.

- I love you, Kitten. - He takes the answer with a kiss, causing my body to explode into a million pieces of pleasure. Adam doesn’t stop, and after a few thrusts, he collapses beside me, pulling me into his embrace. I turn to him and drown in his eyes again. For the first time in a long time, I see in them the same boy I met seven years ago on the beach. The one I thought about every day since that meeting. The one I loved so much that I was ready to give up everything for him.

Now, in front of me is not Adam Kelly as known by others. No, lying next to me is Adam who seven years ago gave me a ring and faith in the future.

- And I love you, Adam. - I kiss him on the lips. In this kiss, there is no passion; only bright, tender feelings that I tried to eradicate, but all those years, they managed to break through through hatred, anger, and pain.

We fall asleep in each other’s arms. For the first time, like a real family. I’m happy next to the man I love, and nothing else matters. And if only I had known back then that just a week later we would find ourselves in real hell, where we would need to make a choice—to save life or love. And no one knows what the right decision would be. But right now, we fall asleep happily, thinking that soon there will be three of us.
