Christine left her office and saw Gloria standing at the door. She pondered for a moment and said, "Gloria, come in and change your clothes. There is a private bathroom here. Go take a shower."
"Thank you, Christine." Gloria was tired at the moment and needed a rest, so she did not refuse Christine.
She watched Gloria walk into the office, then Christine returned to the private room where Patrick and Thor were.
She was about to report her work to Patrick.
As Christine walked into the room, she heard Thor discussing with the members of the Black Moon Pack about what they did to Gloria just now.
Thor's laugh was so piercing that Christine could not help frowning.
"Alpha Patrick, you have a great club. Why do you look unhappy? If this club was mine, I would have lived here!" Thor said with a smile.
"Alpha Thor, I'm flattered. There are many clubs like this in Gabbs," Patrick said indifferently.
"If that's the case, Alpha Patrick, let's go out for some fun. I heard that the night in Gabbs is as fun as Las Vegas," Thor said and was eager to try.
"You should have a rest, Alpha Thor."
The old Alpha of the Black Moon Pack died. Thor, as his son, had inherited his position and became the new Alpha. The territories of the Black Moon Pack and Black Thorn were both near the Stillwater Range.
Patrick invited Thor to Gibbs in an attempt to work out a deal with the Black Moon Pack to reduce friction between the two packs.
However, Patrick was suddenly annoyed by Thor's expression.
"What did you say?" Thor, not expecting such a reply from Patrick, asked with a slight air of dissatisfaction.
"You should have a rest, Alpha Thor," Patrick stood up and repeated. Then he walked to the door, turned around, and continued, "Tomorrow, we need to discuss the ownership of the territories near the Stillwater Range. I don't want my pack to suffer any casualties."
"The Stillwater Range is closer to my pack. I don't think there is anything to discuss over it," Thor looked at Patrick and said. The smile on his face disappeared.
"It seems that we have different views on this matter, so I suggest that we talk about it tomorrow," Patrick said indifferently.
"How dare you!" Thor shouted angrily, "When my father was still alive, the territory near the Stillwater Range belonged to the Black Moon Pack!"
"Alpha Thor, you are now standing in the territory of the Black Thorn Pack. If I were you, I would watch my tone. After all, you do want to go home in one piece," Patrick said coldly before he left the room.
...
Gloria was tired. She took off the wolf costume after entering Christine's office and changed into her clothes.
The sweat on her forehead made her very uncomfortable.
Gloria walked into the bathroom. She did not use Christine's bathtub. She turned on the tap and washed her face.
Suddenly, the door was opened, and Gloria looked at Patrick in the mirror. His sudden presence stiffened her whole frame.
Her hands clenched.
"Mr. Hammond," she said.
"Who is this weak, incompetent, lowly werewolf in the mirror?" Patrick sneered. "It's you, Gloria."
Gloria was heartbroken. She gritted her teeth and did not speak.
Looking at Gloria's obstinate expression, Patrick detected a trace of the old Gloria. He continued, "Why are you looking at me like that? Am I wrong? At the Fittro Club, even humans wouldn't give up their dignity and bark like dogs. You brought shame to all the werewolves."
Gloria's face turned pale.
Didn't she want dignity? But she was only a rogue without a pack and had spent three years in prison.
If she didn't give up her dignity, she might starve to death on the streets of Gabbs.
Patrick looked at Gloria and didn't miss a single expression on her face.
He didn't know what he was expecting.
"Mr. Hammond, you are right." Gloria understood what Patrick meant. He was trying to humiliate her. Then she hung her head and did not contradict him.
Patrick was furious because she didn't defend herself, and he didn't know why he felt this way.
His eyes looked more ruthless.
Patrick's mind was in a whirl. Always cool, aloof, and self-restrained as an Alpha, he now chafed.
"Patrick, don't look at our mate like that. She's afraid!" Patrick's wolf, Leo, said in his mind.
"Shut up, Leo!" Patrick had a headache, and he responded fiercely to his wolf.
Leo ignored Patrick's attitude and said in a gentle and pitiful tone, "Look, how beautiful our mate is. She needs our comfort. Why don't you hold her?"
"She is not our mate!" Patrick retorted.
"She is our mate. Can't you smell her scent? How intoxicating!" Leo was obsessed with Gloria.
Though Patrick kept contradicting his wolf in his head, he did smell her.
It was mingled with the scents of fir, cedar, and rose. The scent of the rose was sweet, and the sweetness was neutralized by the slightly cold firs and cedars.
Patrick had to admit that he was drawn to it. Step by step, he drew nearer to Gloria.
The stronger the scent, the more intoxicated he felt.
Leo kept urging Patrick. It didn't annoy him and he just wanted to get close to Gloria.
Patrick's hand rested lightly on Gloria's face, and his thumb moved slowly over her pale features.
Looking at the pale Gloria in the mirror, Patrick regained consciousness.
He said, "Gloria. If you had been so obedient back then, you wouldn't have been reduced to your current situation. Don't you think so?"
