"Am I supposed to compliment you back" I asked with a grin. Roman stared at me blankly for a few seconds, then finally nodded. "You have beautiful teeth" I blurted out and watched as a mixture of disbelief and confusion appeared on his beautiful face. I was just teasing him. I knew that he wanted me to actually say something nice about him. But I didn't want him to think that I forgot about Lily or Avan. No. I still had everything in my mind. I didn't want to be to harsh with him as well. It wasn't his fault that his father chose Lily for him.
But still, he could have waited. I quickly shook my head then stared at him while shaking my head when I realized that he didn't say thank you.
"A well mannered person would say thank you right now" I pointed out while crossing my arms to look for serious.
Well, I was not.
"A sane person would not say that I have beautiful teeth as a compliment" Roman said calmly, crossing his arms as well. The difference between him and I, was that he actually looked intimidating while crossing his arms.
"Are you saying that I'm insane?" I asked with a gasp. He knew that I was just playing around as he simply nodded, making me gasp again. I could notice that he was actually enjoying this argument with me.
"Why are you kids always arguing?" Roman and I both turned around to look at my father, who was standing just next to Roman's father.
"Dad, we're not kids" I mumbled.
"Compared to us, you are" Alpha Johnson said, a playful grin on his face. "Well, kids, all the pack members are already in the backyard. We're all waiting for you" I frowned slightly as I realized that my brother, Erik and his mate were still not here.
"Where's Erik and Marine?" I asked my father. He smiled then stared at his watch before looking at me again.
"He'll be here soon" he told me. "Let's go inside. Everyone is waiting for you" My father said as Alpha Johnson motioned to the door. My mother was already inside the house. What I noticed here was the fact that no one talked about the former Luna? The question kept on bugging me as I walked in the house with Roman by my side.
Where was Roman's mother?
My question soon disappeared when I felt someone throw herself at me. A smile crept on my face when I recognized the scent. I wrapped my arms around my best friend, Emilie. I guess that she was done greeting Josh. I pulled away to look at her.
"I miss you so much" She breathed. I could see tears forming in her eyes.
"I miss you too, Em" I told her as I pushed her hair away from her face then wiped her tears away.
"I'll be waiting for you in the backyard" Roman told me. I turned to look at him. He was waiting for me to say yes before going. I smiled and nodded. Emilie walked to my side and took my hand in hers. After a few seconds, I saw Ellie and Aurora walking down the stairs. Aurora was wearing a beautiful blue dress with her hair tied in a high ponytail. The little crown that she was wearing made her seem so confident. I motioned them to join me and Emilie.
"You're so pretty" Emilie gushed while staring at Aurora. The latter seemed surprised. Aurora stared at the floor. Her cheeks turned slightly red, making Emily chuckle and leant to pinch them. "I feel like you don't know how beautiful you are" my best friend said, turning to stare at Ellie. Emilie always had the ability to sense things.
"She doesn't" Ellie and I stated at the same time.
"Emilie, meet Ellie and her sister, Aurora" I introduced. "and Girls, meet my best friend, Emilie" Aurora moved her head slightly to be able to look at my best friend, who was already smiling at her.
"Nice to meet you" Aurora whispered. Due to our wolf hearing, we heard it.
"Likewise, sweetheart" Emilie whispered back. As I stared at Ellie, the question about Roman's mother came back in my mind. I motioned Emilie to walk with Aurora in front of me. They could talk and Emilie was the best person to boost the confidence of someone.
"I have something to ask you" I said, loud enough for only Ellie to hear as she joined me by my side. She nodded and turned to look at me. Emilie and Aurora were already walking to the door which lead to the backdoor. "Where's the mate of the Alpha Johnson?" I asked. I watched as her eyes widened for a few seconds, then they finally went back to normal. She cleared her throat, trying to know how to start.
"Roman's mother ran away" Ellie finally said while staring around. She was probably hoping that no one heard her.
"How long?" I asked. I didn't know that she ran away.
"Eight years ago" she told me. "Roman doesn't like anyone talking about it. When someone asks, he simply say that she's dead" Ellie told me.
"Why did she run away?" I asked. Why would a Luna leave her pack, her mate and her son? It was really difficult for a Luna to actually leave after forming all these connections. Ellie shrugged.
"I don't know. In fact, no one knows" Ellie told me. "The only person who might know is Roman. I heard that the Luna left only him a letter" she continued. "He didn't tell anyone about it. He doesn't like talking about it" Ellie told me. I nodded then we started walking to the backyard. We didn't talk about that again. I felt like I needed to know more.
And to no more, I definitely needed to talk to Roman, who apparently didn't like talking about his mother.
