Molly
Christian is really starting to get on my last nerve, the guy has got a serious problem with me and he's not afraid to hide it even if he does deny it. I know that it's not about the fire because I'm pretty sure that he would have said something by now but whatever his problem is with me I wish he'd hurry up and spit it out because there's only so long that I can be polite to him.
We quickly make our way across the field and get greeted by Ruby and John, Tom's parents and I'm honestly so happy to see them. It's been years since I've seen them and they honestly don't seem to have aged much the only difference now is Ruby's once long blonde hair has now been cut into a beautiful bob, and while her big blue eyes are as bright as ever, she's still so short bless her. Not that I'm much taller than her myself.
John is a tall man with dark brown hair and matching eyes and I quickly realize that Zack, Jack, Callum, and Christian all take after him while Tom is the spit of their mom. I wonder who their sister takes after? I'm guessing John with her being Zack's twin but you never know.
We stick around for a while so Tom, Jack, and I can catch up with them and then we leave just in time as Christian turns up to see them and I'm relieved to be getting my ass out of there.
"My poor feet are killing me!" Tom whines as we get out of his truck and head inside the house, a quick shopping trip turned into four hours of shopping and lunch and my feet are burning. I've also burned a hole in my bank account and of course, it doesn't go unnoticed for all the wrong reasons.
"Hey, guys have fun shopping?" Jack asks as soon as we step inside, he walks straight past us towards the kitchen where Hunter, Ruby, and fucking Christian are sitting around the table while Katie is asleep in Ruby's arms.
"Yes it was fun but my poor feet are fucked now!" Tom whines.
"Language!" Ruby scolds him as she looks down towards the little girl in her arms then back at Tom who quickly apologizes despite the giggles leaving his mouth.
"I bet it is fun when you're not spending your own money!" Christian grunts lowly as everyone keeps the noise down because Katie is sleeping and he must forget this or he doesn't care if anyone hears either way, we do and I'm instantly pissed because I know he's referring to me without having any facts.
"What do you mean Chris?" Tom asks, the look on his face saying he's thinking the same as me. Christian turns his head toward me and gives me a look that sends shivers down my body, he may be good looking but he's also an absolute dick head!
"I need to go pick up Brody can someone keep a listen out for Sophie please she's taken a nap in my room?" He turns away from me to face the others while Jack gives him a nod. He bends down to take Katie out of Ruby's arms but she shakes her head.
"She's fine here with me, there's no point in disturbing her."
He bends down and places a kiss on her cheek before grabbing his keys from the kitchen unit and heading for the front door and I'm instantly relieved when he's out of the house.
"Don't worry about him baby girl," Tom hugs me before picking his bags up from the floor.
"What's going on?" Ruby's already picked up on something going on and she's only been home half a day.
"It's nothing, Mom, dont worry." She doesn't look like she believes Tom but before she can say anymore Katie starts to wake up and it distracts her for long enough to allow me and Tom to grab our stuff and head upstairs.
I couldn't wait for my fresh start here but I never wanted to cause any problems even if I dont know what I've done it's clear Christian is unhappy about my presence here and if it's going to stay that way then maybe it's time to consider a different fresh start one away from the farm.
Christian
I slam the door shut on my truck and curse out as the truck groans in protest. I'm angry, angry at Molly for making a fool out of Thomas. Angry at Thomas for letting Molly do it and I'm angry at myself for letting it get to me. Tom's a full grown man and it's none of my business what he does with his money but she doesn't work so I have to be right on this and but I can't ignore it and clearly, I can't ignore her
I pull up outside Brody's school and head inside to collect him leaving all my worries to go and just concentrating on my boy. "Daddy!" He calls out as soon as he spots me and as always my heart flips at the sound. He barrels towards me but I quickly notice a little sadness laced across his face that combined with his teacher heading my way has my senses heightened.
"Mr. Bowen, how are you?" Mrs. Jefferson his kindergarten teacher shakes my hand as he curls himself around my leg squeezing me tight. I politely shake her hand and share a few quick polite words before I get down on my haunches in front of him.
"Brod's what's wrong son?"
"I can't go to see the dinosaurs Daddy and I want to, I really want to!" He whimpers out the words as he tries to hold back tears, breaking my heart. What is he talking about? I look up at Mrs. Jefferson and thankfully she starts explaining what's going on to me.
"There's a field trip to Dino's theme world tomorrow for Brody's class. The information and permission slip went out weeks ago but I'm afraid that Miss. Jones hasn't returned the permission slip or the money. For fuck sake is there anything she's done right lately!
"Was I bad Daddy? Is that why Mommy didn't pay?" His tears come fast as he speaks and it only heightens my anger toward his mother but I use everything I have inside of me not to show him.
I pick him up and bring him in tight to my chest and he wraps his legs around my waist and his arms around my neck while hiding his little face in my neck, his body shakes with his tears but finally after a few minutes of soothing words and gently rubbing his back he finally starts to calm down.
"No, you haven't been bad son I'm sure Mommy just forgot." It's bullshit but he doesn't need to know that. "Mrs. Jefferson, is it too late to sort it now?"
She seems to think to herself for a few seconds before shaking her head "No if you can fill out the permission slip and also pay now then I can still add him on.
"Great, how much is it?"
"$20 that's for the bus and entry to the park, he will need to bring a packed lunch and the children are welcome to bring some spending money for the gift shop. There are a few other items that they will need to bring but I will get you a copy of the information sheet.
"Great!" I pull my wallet out of my back pocket and hand over the 20 dollars to the teacher then follow as she heads toward the school office. Brody who has cheered up very quickly after hearing that he can now go is now running around excitedly as I fill out the information needed and hand it back to the teacher.
"Thank you for telling me about this. Is there anything else coming up that hasn't been dealt with?"
"Not that I can think of at the moment but I can check and inform you if there is anything."
"That would be great thankyou. Things are a little up in the air regarding Miss. Jones right now so can you please inform me, my parents, or brothers of anything in the future so I know it will get back to me please?"
"Of course, Mr. Bowen," I see the look of confusion on her face but it's quickly replaced with her professional look, and I'm grateful for it as I won't discuss Amy's fuck ups in front of Brody.
Once everything is sorted and I have one happy boy again I take his hand and start leading him toward my truck, I lift him into the back and get him strapped in when my phone starts to buzz in my back pocket.
"Hey, Tom, what's up?"
"Where are you?" He has a weird sound to his voice and I dont like it.
"I'm just leaving the school, heading home. What's wrong?" Suddenly I hear someone shouting in the background followed by another voice causing me to quickly get myself in the driver's seat and belted up.
"Christian, Amy's here and kicking off!"
"I'm on my way!"
Fuck fuck fuck!
