103 Stronger

When I open my eyes it’s morning. The light streaming through the window, the birds that fly by, the clouds in the sky. It’s a little cold and when I look around I realize it’s because my heat warmers are gone. I slept through the night but woke up still feeling tired.

The smell of breakfast beckoned me out of bed and I dutifully got out of bed. After I was dressed, I sighed and threw the door open. My body was tired and pleaded for me to go back to bed but I ignored it.

The promise of food grew stronger and I followed the enticing aroma as it led me down the stairs. The first thing I see is Viktor sauteing vegetables, he mumbles something and Jake passes him a few eggs. My eyes follow Viktor as he cracks the eggs in the frying pan. He’s wearing athletic shorts, a t-shirt, and an apron. The apron is a nice touch and I like it.

My eyes slide over to Jake and I notice he’s wearing light gray sweatpants and a hoodie. He’s flipping pancakes like a chef and pushing out his chest like he’s proud of himself. I can’t help but giggle as I make my way across the room to them. Two sets of eyes landed on me and I felt like a goddess.

“Good to have you join the land of the living,” Jake said.

I scoffed. “I was asleep, not dead, Jake.”

“Could have fooled me,” Jake said as he turned off his burner and walked towards me. I met him at the counter and he leaned down and enveloped me in a big bear hug. I squeezed him and breathed in his scent. When we separated I looked over to Viktor. He slid an omelet onto a platter and I couldn’t help but smile.

“I love seeing you two in the kitchen,” I said.

“I love serving you,” Viktor said over his shoulder.

I made my way over and grabbed the platter with pancakes. Before I could turn, strong arms wrapped around me from behind, and pulled me close. Something hard pressed against my lower back and without thinking, I moved back and wriggled against him.

“Good morning, Luna,” my mate murmured close to my ear. His hot breath caused shivers to run down my back.

“Good morning,” I breathe. My ears are warm, my cheeks heat up, and I know without looking in a mirror that my face is flushed. I sent a quick thank you to the Moon Goddess for blessing me.

It ended as soon as it began. He stepped back and grabbed the platter of omelets. I made my way to the table and put my platter down. Viktor placed the pancakes down and Jake showed up and placed a bowl of mixed fruits down. Viktor left and reappeared with a jug of orange juice.

“You sit,” Jake said.

I laughed as he put two hands on my shoulders and proceeded to lead me to the nearest seat. I plopped down and looked up to find him smiling. Viktor took a seat on my right. He reached over and grabbed a plate. I waited patiently as he filled it with a little of everything.

“Breakfast á la daddy,” Jake said as he placed my plate in front of me. I laughed and reached out to push him in the chest.

“Mm, someone’s back to his jokes,” I teased.

“It’s my life’s mission to make you smile, my queen,” Jake said as he sat to my left.

“Enough talking,” Viktor said. “You need to eat.”

“Thank you for the food,” I said. They continued to take care of me. I was more than capable of making food but the fact that they both made it together made me happy.

“No problem,” Jake said as he scooped his plate.

“Of course,” Viktor said. His eyes remained on me as I picked up my fork and cut a piece of the omelet. I leaned forward and scooped it into my mouth.

“Oh,” I said. I tasted a little bit of spinach, cheese, and tomatoes. A hint of a smile pulled at Viktor’s lips. After I finished my food, I leaned back in my seat. Between everything Jake stuffed on my plate, I was full. “How long are we here for?” I asked.

“We have one more night,” Viktor said. “We could stay longer if you want?” He asked.

I knew he was thinking of me again. He’d left as soon as he’d returned. We took Jake too so Jamie was holding down the fort. She wasn’t alone though, she had the Deltas but I knew we had to go back.

“One more night is more than enough,” I said. I was glad to have more time with them. I wanted to make the most of it. “There are a few things I want to do.”

“Oh, is there?” Jake growled from beside me. “What are these things, hmm?”

I shook my head. “I want to lounge around with you guys, maybe watch a movie, take a walk. We haven’t gone for a run. There are a lot of things I’d like to do.”

“That does sound like fun,” Jake said happily. “What do you think, Vik?”

Viktor looked between the two of us. “I’d like that but we need to put some time aside for us to talk.”

I nodded. “Agreed, we should talk about us,” I said. Jake smiled in agreement but something dark flashed across his features. I don’t know how I knew but I just did. Jake was struggling with something. I needed him to know he belonged here with us. I’d make sure he knew that. I also need to talk to Viktor today. We had a lot of heavy stuff to talk about but I was looking forward to spending time with them today. It was decided. We would leave here stronger than when we arrived.
