ADAM
Looking now into Amanda's eyes, I want more than anything to tell her the whole truth. And yes, it won't erase the emptiness of seven years. But I'm tired of living in lies. Up to this moment, I had doubts, but seeing that goat beside her, I can't keep everything inside anymore.
- It won't erase. - I exhale directly into her lips. I would rather be kissing them than doing all this. - But maybe you’ll hear what you need to hear. - Her reaction shows nothing. The woman looks into my eyes, then shifts her gaze to my lips. Damn, at this rate, we definitely won’t have a conversation.
- What if I don't need it? - she whispers, letting the words drift just a few millimeters from my lips. The last barrier fails. I wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her close and crashing into a kiss. No resistance.
She wraps her arms around my neck, opening up to me even more. I kiss her, nibbling, feeling her body press against me more with every movement, while my arousal is already being pushed painfully by my pants. I run my hand along her bare back and firmly squeeze her butt, eliciting a quiet moan from Amanda.
- We should stop. - she suddenly pulls away, as if just realizing that we are still in a restaurant, where a bunch of people are outside the door.
- I'm sorry... - we were supposed to just talk, and I couldn’t restrain myself. Again. Being near her is simply not realistic, especially after this night.
- There's no need to apologize or explain anything. - she thinks for a moment, and I get scared by the silence. - I need to go home. There are too many emotions right now, and I’m not ready to listen to you. I’m free on Saturday, and if you still want to talk, you can pick me up at 9 PM. - I wasn’t expecting that.
Watching the woman exit the balcony, I realize that more has changed than I expected. She is definitely not the same person from seven years ago, but the present Amanda attracts me even more. After a while, I return to the hall, searching for her with my eyes, but she has already left. Nazar is gone too. However, Viktor approaches me:
- Years go by, but some things never change. - I take the glass he brought and down it in one go.
- I don’t know what you’re talking about. - I take another glass from the waiter and look at my old friend. Viktor knows me like no one else and is aware of all the events that have taken place in my life. The only thing he knows only partially is the situation with Amanda. That was when I left the fights and plunged into business. That part is known to Viktor because he had been my coach for many years. But the reason why it happened, I decided to keep to myself.
- Kid, I’ve known you for a good 20 years, so don’t tell me. You were all worked up when you saw Nazar with that woman. I'm surprised how you managed to keep it together. - I don’t even know that myself. Maybe I didn’t want to complicate an already complicated situation with Amanda. Because if I had smashed that jerk in the face, she would hardly ever want to talk to me again. Or maybe it’s because I want to take revenge on him in a completely different way.
- It’s all too complicated. - I finish the second glass, feeling that my head is already in a haze. That’s enough for today, I need to get some sleep. Tomorrow there’s a lot of work to sort out before meeting with partners. And Saturday, which is only four days away, will be tough, oh so tough.
I say goodbye to Viktor and head home, although my heart yearns to go back to Amanda and not let her go all night. Just one night. But who am I kidding, I need every one of her nights, every day. I need her life. And let it sound selfish, but I’m not ready for anything less.
- Give her time. - I realize that this visit wasn’t the best idea. Maybe she’s not alone, but with Nazar, even though she said they’re just friends. The very thought that she’s with him now sends a storm swirling in my head. I’m ready to tear him apart with my bare hands, not only for touching my Amanda but for the fact that seven years ago, I lost her because of him.
Seven years ago...
Amanda calmly accepted what I was doing, which made me feel much easier. So after dropping her off at home earlier than usual because she has an important exam tomorrow, I returned to the club to talk to the coach. But instead of him, I ran into the guy who has been annoying me for the last ten years.
