Gloria's shoulders trembled, and she clenched her hands into fists. Harry's sudden appearance caught her off guard, and she tried to restrain the urge to scream.
She was furious because of Harry's remark about her.
What did Harry know? He was the son of the Alpha of the Silver Spring Pack. He had money, and he had the pack guards protecting him.
When Gloria got out of the werewolf prison, she had only a few dollars on her.
Where else could she go besides Fittro Club?
There were so many packs in Gabbs, yet not a single one of them would take in a rogue who was an ex-con from the werewolf prison.
Gloria didn't have a wolf, so she couldn't be a real rogue either. She might not survive a day in Shadow Forest.
With trembling hands, Gloria took out her phone and glanced at it. She sniffed, raised her head, slowly turned around, and walked towards the elevator.
She would not give in. Even if there were only forty minutes left, she would fight until the last second.
Gloria limped into the elevator.
She had more important things to do. Those living in shitholes also felt pain, yet they didn't deserve to feel sorry for themselves.
Harry hurt Gloria as if she hadn't been hurt enough.
The moment the elevator doors opened, she looked up into the elevator mirror and smiled. She cheered herself up, "100 thousand dollars to go, Gloria."
At the same time, in the lounge of Fittro Club's Public Relations Department, the call girls were gathering together, chatting.
"Have you heard? I just saw Gloria asking around for a job. She is up to everything," one of the call girls said.
"She goes all out for the sake of money. But a woman like her is not fit for the Public Relations Department at all. I wonder why the general manager let her in. She's dragging down the whole department," said another call girl.
"She hasn't received any work for a month, right? I think she is freaking out. She asked everyone in the Public Relations Department today."
"Enough about her. What a bummer. It has been a long time since Mr. Middleton came here. He and his friends are here today. Let's go and hang out with them."
The women wore make-up, left the lounge, and headed to the sixth floor.
Gloria asked practically everyone around her for help, but to no avail. She returned to the lounge in frustration.
She looked up at the clock in the lounge. Time was passing quickly.
Christine texted her, telling her that Patrick would arrive at Fittro Club in twenty minutes.
Gloria knew that Patrick had always been a punctual man who kept his word. The despair was engulfing her heart.
"Gloria, come with me."
The door to the lounge was pushed open. Gloria looked up and saw Christine standing with a cold face, looking at her.
"Christine?" Gloria was shocked, and her face turned pale. She said with a trembling voice, "Is he here?"
Gloria looked helpless. Christine felt tightness in her chest. The dull pain made it hard for her to breathe. She took a deep breath and looked at Gloria coldly. "Mr. Hammond hasn't arrived yet. Come with me."
"Christine?" Gloria said doubtfully.
Christine frowned. "Why are you still standing there? I'll take you to meet some guests I know."
Gloria stood up and said, "Christine, I'm going with you."
Christine did not speak and took Gloria upstairs.
"The sixth floor?" There was a strange look on Gloria's face.
"Only guests on the sixth floor can offer a reward of 100 thousand dollars." Christine stopped at the door of a room on the sixth floor and said, "Gloria, this is all I can help you with. I wasn't supposed to bring you here. There are some things that I can't tell you. You should know that I care about you, but I also want to have a peaceful life."
Gloria lowered her head. She knew what Christine meant, and she knew Christine must have struggled a lot before bringing her here today.
Gloria said, "Christine, I know. I am very grateful to you. I get it."
Christine no longer looked at Gloria. Before she knocked on the door, she said to Gloria behind her, "This is all I can do. Good luck."
Gloria suddenly took Christine's hand, which was about to knock, and said, "Christine, do you know the guest in this room? What's his name?"
"It's Mr. Middleton. Wait! Gloria, where are you going?" Before Christine could finish speaking, Gloria turned around with a pale face and was about to leave. Christine reached out and grabbed her. "Where are you going?"
Christine had just knocked on the door of the room. To her surprise, the guest inside was in such a good mood that he came to open the door himself.
"Christine, didn't you say that you were going to bring someone here? What took you so long?" Warren stood at the door and glanced at Gloria. He didn't remember her face but recognized her clothes. He grinned mockingly and said, "Isn't this Mr. Carter's new toy I just saw in the elevator?"
Warren walked up to Gloria and lifted her chin with his finger flirtatiously.
Gloria hung her head stubbornly.
"Hey, check it out. She's shy," Warren immediately said. "Guess what? I have to see your face today."
Christine said from the side, "Don't be afraid, Gloria. Mr. Middleton is just teasing you. He is very kind."
Warren paused with his finger under Gloria's chin. He looked suspiciously at the woman with her head low in front of him and asked Christine, "What did you say her name was?"
Gloria was stunned. She shouted sternly, "Christine, don't tell him!"
Warren was suspicious, and Christine sensed that something was wrong. Gloria's reaction was so weird.
"Gloria?" Warren's eyes were filled with suspicion. He suddenly let go of his finger that was hooking Gloria's chin. Before Gloria could breathe a sigh of relief, she suddenly felt pain in her scalp.
She heard Christine shouting, "Mr. Middleton, what are you doing?"
At the same time, Gloria met a pair of bloodthirsty eyes. The owner of the eyes licked his lips excitedly.
Warren said, "It really is you, Gloria. I never expected you to turn into such an ugly mess. However, I would recognize you no matter what you've become!"
Gloria's face turned ghastly pale.
