I smiled at my reflection in satisfaction. The only thing that I kept thinking about while getting dressed was whether Xavier was going to like my outfit or not. Will I look attractive to him? It was wrong on so many levels.
But somehow it felt right.
I stared at my black boots and nodded in approval. It seemed good for horse riding. I tied my hair in a bun so that my hair wouldn't fly into my face. Lena walked into the room and smiled when she saw that I was ready to go.
"I don't like your bun" Lena concluded. I gasped at her words and touched my neatly done bun.
"Why?" I questioned.
"Because you look so innocent" Lena chuckled.
"Maybe that's the look I was going for?" I shrugged. She chuckled in amusement and twirled in front of me, displaying her outfit. She was wearing a black pair of jeans and a white shirt. I sucked on my teeth before squinting my eyes in disapproval. She quickly stopped moving and crossed her arms. "Shoot" she said sternly.
"You should probably tie your hair up and, a white shirt? Really?" I asked teasingly. "There's going to be a lot of dust and dirt, I'm assuming and white is a bad choice" I said. "Plus, there is already make up on your shirt" I added smoothly. Lena huffed before pulling the fabric to have a proper look at it.
"Fine. I'll change it. But I'm keeping my hair down" Lena said before walking to her drawer to look for another shirt.
"Yeah, that's fine if you want to die" I shrugged innocently. Lena's face snapped in my direction and she groaned in annoyance.
"Do I even want to know how?" She asked in defeat.
"It's very logical" I said and watched as she opened her mouth, then closed it again.
"Hazel. I am not logical. Please enlighten me" Lena sighed. She pulled out a black top and quickly took off the one that she was wearing.
"Your hair will block your eyesight. You might fall or crash in a tree" I said, trying my best not to laugh at how serious she looked. She looked so done with me.
"And I will die?" She concluded in confusion. "I swear to the freaking Moon Goddess that sometimes, I ask myself whether your parents dropped you on your head when you were a baby" she said while shaking her head.
"I'm pretty sure they did" I laughed.
"I literally lost five minutes of my life, having this conversation with you"
Lena said as she put the top on her. I nodded my head in approval.
"You look much better. You always look good. White was just not practical" I said.
"Thank you" Lena smiled.
"Is Xavier ready yet?" I asked her and took my phone from the bed.
"Can you go check on him? I am going to start the car" Lena said and without even waiting for my response.
I didn't have much choice, did I?
I sighed then made my way to Xavier's room. Wouldn't it have been for convenient if I was the one starting the car? I hesitantly knock and took a step backwards. The door flung open and a smiling Anthony was staring at me. My eyes unillingly travelled the the background and I gulped when my eyes fell on a shirtless Xavier.
I would never understand why my heart would start racing whenever I would be in close proximity of Xavier. He slowly turned around, his eyes met mine and they stayed connected. He slowly put the shirt on and I watched as his eyes quickly scanned me and then they settled back on my face.
"We're going horse riding!" Anthony gushed happily'. "Where's Lena?" He asked me. My attention quickly moved to him and a smile made its way on my face when I saw how excited he was.
"She's starting the car. We're going in my Jeep" I said mostly to Xavier who nodded curtly. It seemed nearly formal.
"We're ready" Xavier said.
"Lena is going to be so happy" Anthony said before running down the stairs. I unconsciously sniffed the air when that sweet musky perfume reached my nostrils. I couldn't help but close my eyes to concentrate on it.
It was the same perfume as from the couch.
My eyes quickly opened when I realized that it must have been Xavier's perfume this whole time. I bet it was some expensive ass one. "Is everything alright?" Xavier asked me, a frown on his face. I literally just zoned out in front of him.
"Yes. I really like your perfume" I said with a smile. I was quite proud of myself for uttering these few words without stuttering. Xavier walked out of his room and stood next to me.
I took a deep breath and unconsciously licked my lips before taking a few steps backwards. "I am not wearing any perfume" Xavier said. His eyes held so much mystery. The way he was looking at me was so captivating. His good looks probably get him any women he wants.
But I refused to believe that he wasn't wearing any perfume.
Xavier motioned me to walk first and I offered him a smile. He didn't smile back. I was having hard time figuring him out. Maybe he really didn't like me. I remembered how he ignored my existence the first time didn't like me. I remembered how he ignored my existence the first time I saw him.
Why did I even tell him that I liked his perfume?
I walked down the stairs with Xavier following behind me. I was nervous.
I felt nervous. Anthony was waiting by the door, peaking outside to see if Lena was around.
"She's sitting in the Jeep" Anthony quickly said when he saw us walking in his direction.
I'll walk out first then you can hide behind Xavier" I suggested. Xavier suddenly tensed from next to me. His eyes snapped in my direction and focused on my lips. I watched as his jaws tensed.
"That sounds good" I smiled, ignoring Xavier's reaction.
