Chapter 7: Charlie

A yawn escaped my lips as soon as I turned off the car. I was tired. We were back home with five huge bags of groceries. Lena playfully smacked my arms then motioned me to get out of the car. Shopping with her was exhausting. I tapped my phone screen to look at the time.

"We spent one fucking hour in that store, Lena" I muttered in disbelief while getting out of the car.

"And it's my fault?" Lena asked me as I closed the door  and peaked through the window to have a look at her. She was standing there with her hands on her hips. "Was I the one running around, not knowing what to get?" She then asked. I opened the back door, took three bags and placed them on the floor. She did the same, with a dramatic huff I might add. I knew that these bags were not heavy for her.

"I think we need to get help" I said while staring at the three bags in front of me. There was no way I was going to carry all these by myself. The door burst opened and Mayra walked out with a small smile on her face.

"You need help?" She asked. I wondered how did she manage to hear me?

Eh.

Werewolves.

"Please" I said. Mayra came and lifted the bags easily. I had one bag left in front of me. Lena was carrying the other two bags back in the house. I rolled my eyes as I stared at the huge bag, filled with bottles. I tried to pick it up and managed to do only two steps forward with it in my hand.

"Let me get that" I turned my head in fear at the sudden voice. The man took  the bag from my hand and motioned me to walk forward. "I am Charlie" He introduced himself. I tilted my head and fixed my glass again on my nose. He was very good looking. I was not even surprised at how pretty werewolves could be. The name didn't fit his face.

And Charlie here, was definitely a werewolf.

His essence was all over the place.

"I would really like to know what is going in that pretty head of yours" He chuckled. I rose my eyebrows in surprise. That was a beautiful sound coming from his mouth.

Did he just say that my head of pretty?

"I'm Hazel" I introduced myself while taking my glasses off. His curly brown curls were messy. His green eyes were a different kind of green. It held more intensity in them. The green of the leaves in the wood. He was wearing a black shirt and a pair of shorts. "I am Lena's friend" I continued awkwardly. "Thank you for that" I rambled before opening the door for him.

"Thank you" He breathed as soon as he walked inside.

"I am a friend of her brother" Charlie said with a genuine smile.

"Mayra went to sleep. Charlie?" Lena questioned in surprise. Her hands went to her mouth to close them shut. "I didn't know that you were coming!" She said and ran into his arms. Charlie wrapped his arms around her and sighed in content.

"We wanted to surprise you" Charlie said before ruffling Lena's hair.

"Who is we?" Lena questioned with furrowed eyebrows.

"Your brother, me and someone" Charlie answered then shrugged, leaving the suspense hanging in the air. Lena rolled her eyes before letting her body fall comfortably on the couch.

"He brought a girl, didn't he?" Lena sighed in exasperation. Lena quickly looked around then turned to look at Charlie.

"He didn't" he said.

"Did you meet the other?" I asked Charlie, just to make conversation so that I wasn't left out.

"We came thirty minutes ago. We met them and they all went to bed" Charlie explained. I nodded at his response and sat next to Lena. I guess it was time for us to go to bed too.

"Who is it?" Lena suddenly asked.

"A surprise" Charlie responded.

"is it a girl?" Lena asked.

"No" Charlie responded. "But first of all, the only reason that I am not sleeping yet, is because I don't have a room" He explained. "I was waiting for you to come" he continued.

"Not my guests, not my problem!" I mimicked her and soon, a pillow came flying on my face.

"To my defense, I didn't know that my brother was going to bring your annoying ass and i don't know who" Lena huffed.

"You love my annoying ass" Charlie chuckled.

"How are you guys related?" I asked hesitantly.

"Childhood friends. We grew up together" Lena explained.

"I was babysitting her" Charlie laughed. I couldn't stop myself from laughing. "We didn't grow up together" He shook his head.

"You're only five years older than me, Charlie" Lena deadpanned.

"That's not the problem here" He then smacked Lena on his leg. "Where am I going to sleep?" Charlie asked Lena seriously.

"Well, I don't know. You're not my guest" Lena shrugged teasingly. "Where is the other person sleeping?" she asked.

"The other person is staying just three days. And in your brother's room" Charlie responded.

"Who is it?" Lena frowned in confusion. "I mean he's sleeping in my brother's bed" Lena mumbled.

This was none of my concern.

"You can sleep in my room" I suggested. Both Charlie and Lena whipped their head in my direction, staring at me as if I have grown two heads.

"You will share your room?" Lena asked in surprised. I scoffed at her words. Did she really think that I was going to share my bed with a stranger.

"No. But you will be sharing yours" I responded. "Charlie can take my room. And we can share your room" I said.

"Sounds good to me" Lena smiled.

"Great then" Charlie said and stood up to stretch his body. He was very muscular. "I'm going to put my suitcase in that room" he announced.

"Can you put mine in Lena's room, please?" I asked politely. Charlie turned to look at Lena.

"Can't you be nice like her?" Charlie asked her seriously.

"I am nice!" Lena exclaimed. "Just not to you" She continued. My best friend was being sneaky here.

Borderline, flirty with her tone.

Ouh. I will have to keep track.
