I rubbed my eyes to get rid of the foggy eyesight as I walked into the kitchen. Sleeping next to Lena, was a pure nightmare. She snored louder than my father. I shook my head at my own thoughts, then made my way to the tap.
"Is this your real hair?" I squinted my eyes and turned around. As the lights were off, I could only distinguish the feature of a...
Child?
"Yes" I responded hesitantly. He was sitting by the island in the kitchen, with the lights off.
Was he a ghost?
At this point, I wouldn't even be surprised.
"Who are you?" I asked him curiously. I turned on the light to see a cute little boy, sitting with a glass of milk in front of him.
"I'm Anthony" He introduced himself.
"I'm Hazel. Tell me Anthony, what are you doing here?" I asked, genuinely curious about the presence of this little boy. I tried to caught his essence but I couldn't feel anything. I opened the tap while staring at him. I didn't want to give him my back.
I was scared of a child.
"I came with my cousin" He announced, then took a gulp of the milk. I filled my glass and took a gulp of the water. "I wanted to surprise Lena but she took too long" he mumbled in boredom. A feeling of relief settled in me. He was not going to attack me. I pulled the chair next to him and sat down. "I like when it's dark. We get a better view of the lake" He then added. I stared at the big window pane to see the light of the kitchen reflecting on it.
Catching on what he was trying to imply, I stood up and turned off the light. Anthony was right. The lake looked so much better with the moon hovering over it. I was surprised by this little man who seemed to be more mature than me.
"What's your age, Anthony?" I asked him before drinking a sip of my water.
"I am eleven" He responded.
"Your cousin is still sleeping, I assume" I said and he nodded.
"I want to go outside" He said out of the blue. I leant a little bit to have a look at the grass. I shrugged then stared at him with a big smile on my face.
"Let's go" I proposed. His face lit up in excitement. He didn't move from his chair though. He frowned while staring at me.
"Aren't you sleepy?" He asked.
"I can't sleep with your cousin's snores" I joked.
"She does snore very loud for such a pretty girl" He agreed. I couldn't help contain the chuckle that escaped my lips. He reminded me of Jet.
Smart mouth.
I got off the seat and walked to the big glass door. My glass was still in my hand. I turned around to see Anthony walking to me, with his glass of milk in his hands. He was trying to hard to be careful not to spill. I walked outside and soon, the cool breeze brushed against my hair. A smile formed on my face as I walked further down the grass area and stopped a few meters from the lake. The darkness of the water, was not something I was comfortable with. I sat down on the grass and patted the green area next to me.
"This is so good" Anthony breathed as he sat down next to me. I nodded in agreement, my eyes looking at the reflection of the moon onto the peaceful water. On the other side of the lake, was just woods. "I just want to go for a run" he breathed. I stared at him. He most probably assumed that I was a werewolf too.
"At this time?" I asked him, acting surprised by this idea. Anthony quickly turned to look at me, his eyebrows furrowed together, confused by my question. A werewolf wouldn't question the idea of going for a run. His eyes suddenly widened as he realized that I was not a werewolf. His eyes skimmed mine and he tilted his head slightly to the side.
"You're very pretty" Anthony said, making my cheeks turning a little bit red. This kid was the epitome of cuteness.
"You're very cute too" I said, tapping the tip of his nose with my finger. He rolled his eyes playfully, then let his body fall on the grass. Sitting out here by the lake, was very soothing to me. I watched as the goosebumps rose on my skin. I was wearing a pair of shorts and a big ass shirt. Wearing oversized clothes were the best thing ever. The shirt was so long that it was even covering the shorts, giving the idea that I was naked underneath it.
"Anthony!" Tingles ran up my spine at the sound of this voice. I would recognize that voice anywhere. That voice that I have heard only once, have been replaying so many times in my head.
In my dreams.
"He's awake" Anthony said from next to me. He sat up, turned around to look at his cousin. I didn't even dare to turn around to look at him. "I'm here" Anthony called out. His voice was loud. I turned and playfully pushed him before motioning him to go.
"Go" I ushered and watched as he glared at me before standing up.
"Come" Anthony said. I quickly shook my head. I didn't turn to look behind me. I was so nervous. I didn't want to face the man that have been living in my dreams. He most probably didn't know about my miserable existence.
"I am going to sit here for a few more minutes" I told him. "You go" I ordered. Anthony shook his head, then sat back down. I guess everyone in his family was stubborn. He reminded of Lena.
"It's not good for a girl to sit out here on her own at night" He said with a shrug. I couldn't help but smile at his words. I rolled my eyes then pushed him to stand up before standing up myself.
Guess that I will have to face him.
