#Chapter 14: The First Test

Sep 16, 2025 38 / 44

The morning I sniffed my breakfast and went back to lie at the front door until it was time to leave. Madison was going to carry me to the alpha's home.

My head lifted as I heard Madison approach me.

"I know you're nervous about today, I'm too but you need to eat," she told me.

My head turned away from her not wanting to.

"Please drink something then," she begged me.

I got up and followed her into the dining room. She poured out a glass of milk into a bowl. I drank it. I then went back to the door as I did, worried about the difficult task the cruel alpha had already planned for me.

Madison hurriedly left the dining room and ran upstairs. I knew at that moment that it was time for us to leave. I stood up as I saw her returning downstairs.

"Before we leave I want to say something to you," said Madison.

I looked at her.

"Though my nephew is cruel to you, I want you to know that you are here for a purpose by the moon goddess and she has chosen you to be a part of this pack that's why she opened my heart and made my heart so soft for you," Madison gave me hope.

I nodded touched by her kind words.

We both exited the home and went to the alpha's home on top of the hill.

As Madison and I had started on the hill to his home. My heart felt as if it had stopped as I saw him exiting his home. He stood on his porch and his blood-red eyes never left me as he did. My feet began to tremble nervously and I felt as if I was going to land on my face.

"Be careful," Madison immediately stopped as she heard me almost fall.

I looked at her with fear in my eyes for her nephew.

"Don't let him scare you," she encouraged me.

I nodded and we continued on our ways. My eyes lowered to the stoney hill the entire time on my way up, scared to look at him again. Madison stopped at the front of his large home. I did the same. My head raised and my heart beat even faster seeing the alpha approach us. He stood before us as he did. He was so tall, he towered above us like a tall tree.

My head lowered afraid to look him in the eye.

"She knows her way," I heard his powerful voice say to Madison.

He sounded so cruel the way he said that. I did know my way here. How could I forget? I was in chains and bleeding when his men dragged me to his home.

My eyes slowly lifted to him and I saw him give me an evil smile. My eyes turned away upset.

"What task do you have for her?" Madison went straight to the point.

"That's none of your business," answered the alpha.

Madison's face was made in anger upset by his nasty behavior.

I felt his blood-red eyes examining my body. I got closer to Madison scared.

"Why aren't your fur clean scoundrel, unlike Madison I won't allow you to enter my home with your filthy body," complained the alpha. "I can call this first test a failure," he threatened me.

"No!" said Madison.

My eyes went to him terrified.

"She has taken a bath, you can smell it," explained Madison.

"Then why is her fur still dirty?"

"She has not felt safe here as yet and she fears that a wolf may try to take advantage of her that's why she carries herself that way to turn away any rapist," Madison said sadly as she lowered her head in tears.

The alpha stared at me and I whimpered as I took a single step backward, terrified of him. His eyes left mine and he spun around walking into his home.

"Come scoundrel," he called me.

I looked at Madison and she instructed me to stay.

"How long will her task be for?" Madison asked concerned.

I leered at Madison as he stopped the alpha, feeling grateful for her. I never know my mother but if she was still alive I believe she would be as caring as Madison.

"Whenever I feel the need for it to be through."

Madison gave him an angry look from behind.

"Scoundrel!" the alpha again call me.

"Her name is Rain!" Madison shouted at him.

"Go, I'll come and check on you very soon," said Madison.

The alpha turned around straight away at her words.

"If you come here, I make sure I fail her," he warned his aunt.

Madison's teeth tighten in anger.

"I'll see you soon," she told me and then hurriedly went off. I watched her worriedly until I no longer saw her.

I soon felt a dark cloud filled with fear surrounding me. My head slowly turned to the alpha and our eyes met. Within his eyes, there was pure hatred.

"Come," he ordered me.

I quickly followed behind him before he could close the door. My body clumsily hit him. I squealed out as he turned around quickly and kicked me into the wall of his home.

"Don't touch me with your filthy body," he told me angrily.

He shook his body as if he were getting rid of my touch.

I whimpered in pain sadly.

"Get up and follow me upstairs," he again led the way.

I hurriedly did and made sure I kept my distance from him this time. He stopped at a strange room that had a large door. He opened the door and I followed him. I looked at the large strange room nervously.

"I want you to clean this place and organize the boxes in order," he told me.

I looked at the place that looked disorganized it was untidy. Was this truly my task I thought? surprisingly

I nodded.

"Don't take too long," the alpha told me as he left me in the room alone.

As he did my head turned to a large window that was opened. I went to it and looked through seeing I could escape him and ran into the forest without him knowing.

My eyes went back to the untidy room. Something didn't feel right. The task seemed too easy.

Immediately, I began to take up the small boxes and the heavy ones I pushed them with my head to the corner of the room. The task didn't seem easy as I thought it would be discovering what I had to do. Tidying the place was extremely hard since I was in my wolf form. Anyways with determination and hours, I finally finished the first task placing aside the final box. The small black box fall from my mouth for I was tired and from it, I saw a strange shiny round yellow object fall from the box. It falls hard like a stone. I took it up and place it into the box and placed it away completing my job. I was through. I waited on the alpha to return. I grew tired and went to look for him. He was coming from another room when I saw him.

"I'm through," I told him.

He gave me a stern look.

"Alaric!" the alpha called loudly, causing my body to jump frightened.

Alaric ran from the same direction he was coming from and I felt a great fear surrounding me straight away.

"Watch her, I'm going to check on her first task," he told Alaric.

His blood-red eyes left mine and he ran quickly upstairs.

"A thief is always a thief," I heard Alaric behind me.

I looked at him at his words and then I realized why the alpha placed me in the room alone with an open window, he thought I would have stolen from him and run off, but I didn't. I was confident that he will not miss anything.

My head raised towards the stairs waiting on him to return discovering I was not a thief.

My body suddenly jumped from a loud shout.

"Don't let her get away!" I heard the alpha upstairs.
