I returned his stare but was scared and nervous. I wasn't prepared to beg him to give me a second chance to be a part of his pack. I didn't know I would be having difficulty doing so.
I tried to tell him who I was and why I was there but I found myself stuttering.
His stare of surprise soon turned into a grave look and my heart raced.
I held tightly onto his desk as he walked straight toward me and stood before me like a tall tree, towering above. My head raised staring into blood-red eyes scared.
"What are you doing in my house?" he asked acidly.
"I, I," I tried to explain to him again but I kept on stuttering repeatedly, fearing him.
"Are you here to charm me as you did, Alaric?" he asked bitterly.
My eyes widen at his remark.
"I know she-wolves like you, who believed they can seduce an alpha in trying to get whatever they want with their beauty, but it won't work on me," said the alpha as he looked me dead in the eyes.
"Wolves like you disgust me and that mark on your forehead truly does suits you."
Tears flooded my eyes as he grinned at me.
"You believe you could come in here and try to tell me it wasn't you who stole the gold," said the alpha as he gently pulled a long strand of my hair, fondling it.
I cried, I was hurt by his cold words.
"Do you feel your human form could convince me by trying to seduce me?" he again asked.
I didn't understand what he meant by seduce. I only wanted him to accept me as his new member of the pack.
"Let me tell you a secret," said Alpha Deucalion.
He leaned to my right ear and I felt my body shiver at the air from his nostril.
"I was the one who stole my own gold," he whispered in my ears with cruelty.
My head turned to him shocked by his words.
He smiled.
"Yes, I punished you for nothing," he said mocking me with a bigger smile.
My body shook harder and I stare at him as if he was a mad wolf.
"Are you angry scoundrel that I almost killed you for nothing?" he asked ridiculing me.
I immediately ran from the office the fastest as I could. I ran to the back of his house and into the forest until I was at the river where I lost my tail.
I cried angrily in tears. Heavy rain came pouring down from the cloud, I just stood there deeply hurt by the cruel alpha words.
"You bastard!" I screamed angrily.
Lightening flashes as if it was a storm coming and the river started to rise. I was stunned by what was happening. I was immediately calm, and too everything did. The lightning stopped and the river calm down.
Was it me causing this? My grandmother never told me that my special abilities too could cause lightning and the river to rise.
"Rain," I heard Madison calling me.
As I saw her running towards me soaked by the rain. I ran to her, hugging her.
"I'm happy I found you," she returned my hug.
Madison gave me a towel to dry myself and a new dress, a yellow one to put on as we arrived at her home. I lay in bed, sadly as I did.
As Madison changed from her wet clothes she came to me.
"I know you went to the alpha," she said.
"I'm sorry," I apologized.
"It's okay," she responded.
"I know that you feel as if I can't protect you from outsiders that's why you went because you feel he's the only one who can."
I sat up and looked at her. It's like she could read my every action. Madison came and sat beside me.
"Forget the alpha, you don't need him to be saved," she told me.
"We can protect each other as long as we're together," said Madison with a smile trying to encourage me.
I lie back down on the bed.
None of us could protect each other, I thought.
"When you're in a better mood come downstairs to eat," Madison told me and gently touched my one of feet and left the room.
I didn't leave the room the entire morning I just laid lay in the same position Madison had left me. I couldn't help thinking how doom my life was without the alpha protection. Alpha Deucalion had made up his mind to never take me as a part of his pack so there was nothing else I could do about it.
Madison had returned to the room with food.
"You need to stop worrying and eat, Rain," she urged me.
"I'm not hungry," I told her.
She placed the meal on top of a small furniture beside me.
"Are you going to starve yourself just to be a part of his pack when he had shown you nothing but cruelty from the day he met you?" Madison asked upset.
"He could protect me," I sat up answering her.
"From what!" Madison exclaimed.
My head lowered afraid to tell her who I desperately needed protection from.
"Is it from The Grey Pack who believed you have stolen something from them?" she asked.
I looked at her immediately.
It was them, yes, but it wasn't because of that.
"Please forget them, they won't show up here anymore after the warning they've received from the alpha," said Madison.
I nodded.
I believed they won't. I guess I will just have to never leave this land.
"As long as you're on this land with us without the alpha taking you into this pack, you are safe," said Madison.
I again nodded.
"Now, eat," she took up the plate and gave me.
I began eating the meal hungrily with my hand.
Madison sat before me and took a utensil she said was a fork to help me eat.I took it from her and stabbed the bacon on the plate.
Madison laughed.
"Take your time," she told me.
I felt uncomfortable eating with a fork and also with my hand and so I brought my face to the plate.
"Rain, you have to learn to eat in your human form," said Madison.
She moved the plate from my head and began to wipe the meal from my face. She was worried I would wet the bed and my new dress with the warm milk. She held the glassful of milk to my mouth and help me to drink.
"Good girl," she said.
I smiled.
"Don't move," Madison hurriedly went behind me. I glanced behind me and saw her with a strange metal in her hand.
I quickly jumped up.
"I won't hurt you, what I have in my hand is a scissor to cut your hair," she said.
I looked at her not wanting her to.
"I want to give you a bang to hide the mark on your forehead," said Madison.
I sat and allowed her to.
I watched my hair as it falls to the floor. Soon Madison was through.
"Go and look in the mirror," she told me.
As I did, I was surprised to no longer see the horrible marking, the alpha gave me.
I smiled.
"Thank you," I thanked her.
Madison's hand fixed my hair from behind and I felt her hand touch a scar on my neck tracing down to my back. Her hand paused and I turned seeing her sad expression in the mirror.
"You're taking care of me so much," I tried to cheer her up.
She nodded.
I had scars on my back that could not be healed. The whip the alpha used to hit me had something strange within it that prevented me from healing completely.
"If only you'd allow me to help you properly, your wounds would have properly healed," said Madison.
"I'm fine," I told her.
It was a lie, I wasn't. I hated these scars on me and I hated that the alpha will never take me as a part of his pack.
